Vipre blocking iTunes
I have a site license for and am running VIPRE on a desktop (XP/Home) and on a laptop (Vista/Home Premium) as well as a couple of other machines in my home.
On my primary desktop I am not having any problems but on my primary laptop I am getting an attention message that a suspicious file is being opened.
Program: iTunes801Setup.exe (Misc (General)).
VIPRE has temporarily blocked this program from running until you decide what action to take.
What do you want to do?
Then I have the option to "Block" or "Allow".
I allow and then it pops up again and again. As many as six or more times before it stops.
iTunes is installed on both machines.
I had iTunes installed on the desktop before I installed VIPRE.
I installed iTunes after VIPRE was already installed on the laptop.
Why is this happening?
How can I get it to stop?
Is there some problem with my installation of either VIPRE or iTunes?
Please advise.

Inappropriate?Hello,
What we need to do is let VIPRE know that this is a program you want to run, and to do that we need to add the file being identified to the VIPRE Allowed List.
1. Within VIPRE, go to View > Manage Malware > Always Allowed.
2. From here you will be in the “Always Allowed” list, which lists everything you have set VIPRE to ignore, whether it be through an Active Protection popup or a scan.
3. To manually add something to the list, select the “Add” button at the bottom.
4. Now you will have to navigate to the folder of the program you want to allow, which is the first option. If its just a single file, select the third option, Allow files by file name only, and navigate to the specific file. If you are unsure what file or folder to add, just email me back with the information VIPRE flagged, and I’ll let you know what to add.
Once you have added the file, you should see it listed in the Allowed List section and VIPRE should not flag this file or program anymore.
If you need anymore help, just let me know.
Regards,
Perry

Inappropriate?Perry,
I looked into your response. The iTunes801Setup.exe (Misc (General)) program is definitely listed on the "Always Allowed" list along with another iTunes Setup file/program but VIPRE still brings up the attention message.
Additionally I had to down load a program from the Sony website today and ran into the same problem. I must have had to "Allow" well over 100 times before the program was completely downloaded or installed.
/this is beginning to be very annoying and bothersome.
After re-booting the laptop on completing the download and installation I had to "Allow" again for the iTunes program.
What gives?
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a problem with my installation of ViPRE?
Is there a problem with VIPRE?
Please help!
I’m frustrated, unhappy, irritated

Inappropriate?Hello,
Im sorry for the problems you are having. You are doing everything correctly it sounds like. Also, please check your Active Protection Settings to verify they are set to Medium. Please open Vipre, go to File > Settings > Active Protection.
Lets try a complete uninstall and reinstall of the program and it should fix the issue.
First, uninstall by using Add/Remove programs, then use the cleaner below.
Restart your computer.
** IMPORTANT** Make sure you have all your other virus/spyware programs turned off before you reinstall.

If your still having problems please let me know.
Warm Regards,

Inappropriate? It appears the uninstall/reinstall of VIPRE has successfully solved the problem. I have not had anymore pop ups of the attention message.
I still do not understand why this occurred and I am wondering if it will occur again.
Thank you for the quick response and accurate instructions and assistance for resolving the problem.
I’m thankful and happier
