Vipre Hangs Microsoft Outlook
I have two computers using Outlook 2000 and 2003. After installing Vipre, the Outlook client will never close properly. I have to end-task on Outlook.exe to get it out of memory. All changes within Outlook are not saved. Pretty major issue for an anti-virus program. I am calmy told that it will be the next release. How is this not an immediate fix?!

Inappropriate?Poweruser25,
Please make sure you have set up VIPRE's email protection correctly. Try selecting only Outlook and see if this solves the problem. If this is already set up correctly, the problem is most likely a conflict with an add-in for Outlook. Please disable and add-ins in Outlook and see if this solves the problem. If it does, enable each add-in one at a time until you are able to determine which add-in is causing the problem.
Also, do you have any other software that would monitor your email such as an anti-spam program? -
Inappropriate?Hello Poweruser25,
To disable your addons, please open Outlook
Go to Tools > Options > Other Tab > Advanced Options > Com Add ons

Inappropriate? No add-ins show up. The way we fixed this problem as a temporary measure was to un-register the Vipre DLL for Outlook.
The command is: regsvr32 -u "C:\program files\sunbelt software\sbeagent\sbamoutlook.dll"
We are using Vipre Enterprise, so this may not apply to consumer Vipre, I don't know. -
Inappropriate?Poweruser25,
The issue that you are describing is a High Priority with our Vipre development team. It is being addressed and needs to be tested by our QA department before it is released to the public. Since this is the case it couldn't be an immediate or instant fix however this issue will be fixed in our next agent release. Thank you for your patience. -
Pete, Do you hve an estimate on when the next agent realease will happen. This is a problem on two of my PC's. Using task manager to kill the extra outlook process but it is kind of a pain. -
