Vipre hard to install and updates freeze Vista
I installed Vipre AV but continued to receive server busy dialog with a switch to... option. Install finally completes, but updates will not load and PC freezes. OS is Vista Home Premium.

Inappropriate?The freeze occurs as I'm completing the initial setup and the sw is updating its defs. The installation was a nightmare. Had to try twice...kept getting the "server busy" switch to app dialog. Installed on two XP pro boxes with no problem at all. -
Inappropriate?Pstacks, It sounds like a active protection conflict, If you have active protection enabled VIPRE is going to monitor everything you do while you're on your computer, this includes opening/accessing files and so forth.
However, if you have another active protection monitoring your system in conjunction with VIPRE, they can conflict causing things to run slower than normal. If you have any other type of active monitoring, try turning it off and see if the conflict has resolved.
