VIPRE high resource usage during update
I have been running VIPRE for several months now on a low spec laptop (WXP, 1.2Ghz,512MB RAM). This machine is normally put into hibernation rather than shut down and is very reliable. It is only used for reading email, browsing the web & to open the occasional spreadsheet. However, every time we start it there is period of about 5 mins during which there is intense HDD activity and it is virtually unusable.
As far as I can tell, VIPRE is the cause as the machine does not do this when VIPRE is removed. My guess is that while VIPRE is updating its definitions, it is hogging the resources. Is there any way to reduce the resource usage of the updater?
