Vipre is causing outlook error with acrobat attachments.
Just installing Vipre Enterprise 3.1.2426 , is causing outlook error when opening acrobat attachments, sayingthey are already open and locks up the message. "is open or in use by another application. If you continue, you will lose any changes you made to the attachment that is using the other application. Do you want to continue?

Inappropriate?This is a known issue for Vipre. You have to run the following command on each pc or put it in a login script to get rid of it. Very inconvenient on large installs.

This is directly related to e-mail scanning. If your agents have never had e-mail scanning enabled they will not see this issue. I will be monitoring your ticket to ensure that you are contacted as soon as a fix is released.

Inappropriate?Our problem is not only with acrobat document attachments, but all document attachments. We don't seem to receive the error message if we Preview the document in the message window. However, it is frustrating for users to only use the Preview feature when they are accustomed to opening the attachment.

Inappropriate?Does Dave's fix above turn off the virus scanning of attachments? I'd like this problem to go away, but I don't want to lose virus scanning of the attachments.

Unregistering this DLL will stop Vipre from being able to scan Outlook e-mail. Do you have an existing ticket for this issue? If not, I'd like to open one with a tech so that you can be alerted when a fix is released. Please e-mail support@sunbeltsoftware.com and reference this post. Also, include your server/agent versions, Outlook version and Windows version.
