Vipre Latest Defs 2210 reported "Out Of Date"
Vipre definition 2210 (29.08/2008) reported as "out of date', but update attempts today (02/09/2008) fail to download any updated version. Have removed Vipre & re-installed/updated to 3.1.2315 (to no avail0. This is a licensed copy. Have also failed to find any reference on Sunbelt site as to what the latest definition version is ... nearest I got was on the research page ... latest defs "coming soon".

Inappropriate?I have exactly the same problem with CounterSpy version 3.1.2315. I get an icon in the systems tray telling me that my risk definitions are out of date (same version, 2210). However, when I try to update the definitions I get a message telling me they are out of date but the update is not downloaded.
What is going on Sunbelt?
Thank you!
I’m frustrated also

Inappropriate?I have the same issue! I cannot update! I have tried to disable Active Protection and Email Protection and still has not resolved my issues.
My current definition is still 2210 with Current Software Version of 3.1.2315. I have a valid subscription. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!

Inappropriate?same thing with me just spent 2 hour trying to fix been on forums no help there, and on sunbelts home page nothing there, very frustrated sunbelt!!!!!!!

Inappropriate?Ok well i'll add my voice to the complaint. i'm also on def 2210 & it won't update further.
I'm still on the 15 day trial but i won't be much longer if the problem isn't resolved soon, definitions haven't been updated for 4 days now. don't like that 1 bit!
I’m anoyed
-
Inappropriate?I also have this problem. I downloaded vipre trial version to try and overcome the problem but it only updated my software version which was out of date but my risk definitions are still out of date (stuck on 2210) and will not update.

Inappropriate?Tassie Have the same problem with counterspy Definition 2210 will not update,a panel comes up with what looks like a red hot cross bun with a white cross.
Where to from here ????

-
Inappropriate? And another one - exactly the same problem as described by the above posters. Def 2210, showing as out of date, but won't download any updates. I'm on software version 3.1.2243 / VIPRE version 3.1.1590.1 I'm on a paid sub for 2 pcs, one running vista basic and one XP pro, same problem on both.
Sunbelt folk? Over to you.
I’m a bit frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. It tells me that my defintions are out of date but will not download the latest ones. I even tried to completely refresh my defintions, but that failed.
In an attempt to get up to date definitions I uninstalled Counterspy 3.1, ran CSCClean.exe and reinstalled. Now I cannot get it to update beyond definitions 2194 dated 15/08.
I have had so many problems with Counterspy 3.1 I am thinking of binning it.

Same here. Running VIPRE with bought license on OS vista64. No update possible due to 'out of date' issue when trying to update my definitions. :-( -

Nothing is to be found on sunbelt website. Shame as this is were people first go to look if problems occur. seemingly this problem is older than an hour or two.
help????

Inappropriate?I have the same problem too. Why has nobody from Sunbelt acknowledged the problem yet?

Inappropriate?Thank you for posting your questions. When the definition file is more than seventy two hours old, they are automatically flagged as Out of Date.
Because of the holiday weekend and the offices being closed it's been a little longer than seventy two hours since version 2210 was posted. We should be sending out a new definition file later today, correcting the issue.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but assure you that you are up to date. -
Since I am a reseller, I thank you for your vague response and your confidence that a new definition file "should" be sent out today. Our novice customers dont hesitate to call our office and complain. Even if we are up to date, your nice little long weekend sure is costing me time and unhappy customers. Starting to re-think my decision to sell your product. -
Thanks Mike, any chance you could outline for us the proposed resolution path for this issue within Sunbelt? Releasing on holidays (I'm sure this would be the preferred solution!)? Not automatically flagging as OOD? -
Whilst appreciative of a response from Mike which explains the issue, as another reseller I would have to agree with the thrust of CaptnMels's comments. I would like to see a response from Sunbelt ASAP which provides a solution such that this situation does not ever occur again. Without that solution, marketing of the product becomes questionable. -
This still has not been resolved. Are ya working on it? We still cannot update past 2205 without getting an out of date error. -
I still have the problem and I disgree, because I do not have the newest signatures on my PC. I have signatures from the 21.11.2008, and there exist signatures from 28.11.2008. But the system won't download it. The problem was also there last sunday. Then it was only one machine affected. A Machine, installed vipre on that sunday. The signatures on that machine were a month old and the machine could not get an update because it received the error "out-of-date". I could not update. I reinstalled Vipre twice with no luck. With this weekend, I have 2 machines with this problem. Both don't have anywhere the near the newest Signatures (the machines were not used for a week) and can't update because of this. I will try to update the machines on tuesday. But that can't be the solution to this. I can live with the fact that on weekends, the newest update is from Friday. But every machine should be able to get the Friday-Def-File during the whole weekend (even on sunday night) without problems. And thats currently not the case -
Well I put this down to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, but all 3 of my PCs have defn 2429 (26/Nov/08) (which oddly enough isnt listed as the latest sig at the research.sunbelt-software.com definitions page.) Nevertheless, here in Australia on the 30th Nov 2008 at 11PM I have all PCs reporting that my sigs are out of date. Perhaps there is a way that even a blank update (with just an updated time stamp) could be automatically sent if no other update is pending, just to keep my Windows Security Center quiet and keep my rather vigilent staff secure in the knowledge that all is well? -
How long is this issue to continue before the updates are released in an appropriate time frame?????? Really, folks, let's get this act together, eh! -
How long is this issue to continue before the updates are released in an appropriate time frame?????? Really, folks, let's get this act together, eh! This is an international community you are marketing to, so let's act like an

Inappropriate?LOL! No update on holidays? Virusmakers are happy :)
I try out the 15days trial with Vipre, and yes it is a light product but the update service is bad.
Now I use BitDefender, no problem at all, light on system resources and many updates every day include holidays ;) Maybe I go back to Vipre if Sunbelt can fix all problems. -
Inappropriate? One of my home machines updated the definitions today but the other one still has the error message from 2210. Is there a bug?
This is on the commercial software not the trial or beta.
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?Tassie All is well and harmony restored, updated OK tonight Version 2210 to 2212.
All holiday weekends now cancelled, or else leave the update details with the cleaning lady.
I’m happy now
-
Inappropriate?Good Morning everyone,
I completely understand your worries and frustrations with what happened and I want to ensure all of you that this will not happen again. Our internal processes have been examined and we will be releasing definition updates daily. I apologize for what has happened and for the frustrations this has caused all of you.

Hi, Jamie. I thought that was great news, but it's now 7th September, and my Risk Definitions are "up-to-date" at version 2217 from 5th September, i.e. more than 48 hours ago! What's happened to the daily updates? Does this mean that we still won't be protected until sometime on the Monday if any new viruses appear over the weekend? -
Jamie ... what has happened to the "we will be releasing definition updates daily" concept you claim is now the case ... it's Mon 8th sept at 22:48 (in Oz) and I see no updates since last Friday??? -
OzziBob - I found out from our definitions team that we were unable to get the system up for weekend updates before the weekend came. Looks like we will be able to get this running this week. I apologize for this. -
Thanks Jamie ... appreciate the feedback. -
Like I wrote in the comment to Mike Williams, the problem still exists. After reading this, I will try to update the machines on tuesday. But that can't be the solution to this. I can live with the fact that on weekends, the newest update is from Friday. But every machine should be able to get the Friday-Def-File during the whole weekend (even on sunday night) without problems. Even if the machine was not online for a week and tries to update on sunday evening. And thats currently not the case (At least with the last 2 weekends). -
Inappropriate?I received defs 2218 today, but the date shown with the update is 9/5/2008 5:37:15 PM. I don't believe this date is correct.
I’m confused
-
I received 2218 today too (dated 9/5/2008 5:37:15), and now I have received 2219, dated 09/08/2008 11:24:46. I'm really confused! What's going on?! -
Inappropriate? It is interesting that this problem has occurred again! The last time was 3 months ago and Sunbelt employee Jamie Hudson gave this undertaking:
"Good Morning everyone,
I completely understand your worries and frustrations with what happened and I want to ensure all of you that this will not happen again. Our internal processes have been examined and we will be releasing definition updates daily. I apologize for what has happened and for the frustrations this has caused all of you."
Some promise, eh??!!

Inappropriate?I am in there with you guys--could not update Vipre on several of my installations--all bought, legal and paid for. The current definitions file is 2221 on one machine (from 9/9/2008--I hadn't used this machine in a long while) and 2353 on another machine. I'd had a newer version on the second machine, which I had updated on November 21, and then, thinking Vipre had gotten damaged, I removed and reinstalled it, ending up with the October 28 definition set--which cannot be updated--I only get "Out of date" and the current version reported on the older machine, and "the same error, but with "Risk Definitions update has failed" on the machine with the newer version of Vipre dating from October 28.
Funny thing--I'd abandoned AVG due to constant and recurrent problems with their updater and took up Vipre to avoid this problem. Now, once again, I seem to be facing an antivirus product that won't update.
I've got to say that while this is disappointing with a free product like AVG Free, it is infuriating with a product that I have paid for (and which I already have to run in "Low Priority mode" to get it to not choke my machines to death with it's demands for CPU bandwidth....
I’m fed up.

Inappropriate?Thank youl for posting your concerns. I apologize for the update problems over the weekend. I see this morning that definition version 2431 was released yesterday, Your VIPRE should now be reflecting that it is up to date.
If VIPRE is showing the out of date message you can update by using this link.

2. Second machine working ok but says I have 901 days remaining? this one is using xp pro service pack 3 and appears to be working ok although I haven't used my key yet. It was using counterspy and AGV antivirus.
