Inappropriate? Please use the following instructions to disable VIPRE's on access checking monitor.
1. Please open VIPRE.
2. Click on file and then settings.
3. Click on the 'Active Protection tab.'
4. Please uncheck the box that says, 'Check files when they are opened or copied.'
*VIPRE has two different threat detection engines. The scan engine and Active protection. When that feature is checked the scan engine will look at the file when it is copied or opened, much like right clicking on the file and choosing scan now. With this feature turned off, VIPRE's active protection will still monitor for suspicious behavior and known bad programs when the program or file is launched.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I had installed a bunch of CAD and simulation software before encountering this problem. Specifically, MATLab is very slow to come up and initialize unless I remove the laptop from the network and completely disable Active Protection. After MATLab is up I can re-enable Active Protection and everything seems fine. The solution given (unchecking 'Check files...') does not seem to make a difference.

Inappropriate?A Hilton, Thank you for posting our question You can try and add those application folders to the always allowed list in Vipre. Because they use alot of memory or files on the hard drive it could mean its alot of activity for Vipre to monitor.
To add them to the always allowed list open VIpre, click on manage, then always allowed. Click add, then select Entire Folder, and then you can navigate and select the installation folders for those programs.
If you continue to have problems or have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Peter
