Vipre SBAMSvc creating 1GB Threatnet file

Vipre software version 3.1.2416
Vipre version 3.1.1606.1

Trial mode running on Vista 32bit ACER Aspire laptop 4GB RAM

Everything seems to be fine for a few hours, then suddenly the system totally locks up with the hard drive access LED on permanently. In this state, it takes about 20mins to start up Resource Monitor, which shows me that CPU usage is less than 10%, but disk activity is maxed out to the point that I can barely even move the mouse. SBAMSvc is reading and writing to C:\ProgramData\Sunbelt\AntiMalware\ThreatNet\tnft_temp.zip which is over 1GB in size. Hard faults are very high, like everything else is being paged out of memory, then when I try to use the computer, it has to try to page it all back in again. Stopping the SBAMSvc service solves the problem. From when it starts going crazy to the time SBAMSvc is finally put to rest takes about 30 to 40 mins. This has only started happening in the last 3 to 4 weeks, and has happened about 4 or 5 times already.

For now, I have disabled Threatnet in the settings, and see how that fares for a while. I would love to have this issue resolved. Anyone else having this problem or know of any solutions?
