Vipre takes too much CPU usage on a Netbook
Vipre is using lots of CPU on my Netbook (Samsung NC10). It is presented as having a low footprint ? Also, opening a folder having .rar, .zip and installers take ages.

Inappropriate?Hello MerleOne,
I apologize for the inconveniences.
Please use the following instructions to disable VIPRE's on access checking monitor.
1. Please open VIPRE.
2. Click on file and then settings.
3. Click on the 'Active Protection tab.'
4. Please uncheck the box that says, 'Check files when they are opened or copied.'
*VIPRE has two different threat detection engines. The scan engine and Active protection. When that feature is checked the scan engine will look at the file when it is copied or opened, much like right clicking on the file and choosing scan now. With this feature turned off, VIPRE's active protection will still monitor for suspicious behavior and known bad programs when the program or file is launched. Disabling this feature will free up an extrodinary amount of your cpu resources.
Within the Active Protection settings you can also customize which file extensions you want to be scanned on access. You just have to click on the advanced button under the check files when opened or copied.
Let me know if this does the trick.
If you have more questions or need further assistance please feel free to contact us.
Thank You

Inappropriate?I am afraid cpu usage remains at 12% even when nothing happens. I have tried also to desactivate "include low risk programs" for scan options. I will experiment a little bit more and get back to you if I find something. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hello MerleOne,
I apologize for the inconveniences this has caused.
This is a normal occurrence because Vipre has a real-time protection scan engine that is protecting your computer in real-time. SBAMsvc.exe will be using a little of your resources when protecting against malacious threats.
If you have more questions or need further assistance please feel free to contact me.
Thank You

Inappropriate?Actually I have not been precise enough. I am using Bitsum's Process Lasso and the % I have mentioned are average ones, not instant ones.
I now have another more annoying problem : when connected on my Wifi LAN, updates don't work and the log indicates a internet connection problem, while connection to internet via Internet Explorer works just fine ! -
Inappropriate?Update : with your first suggestion, "Please uncheck the box that says, 'Check files when they are opened or copied.'", the CPU usage is back to acceptable levels, and listing a directory is now very fast. Thanks !
Now I would just like to know if it's not too risky ?
Also, the Lan connection problem is solved : I had special proxy settings made in VIPRE when I use my PC at the office, I changed IE one, not VIPRE's.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hello MerleOne,
I am glad I was able to assist you in bringing your CPU usage back to acceptable levels.
It is not too risky because VIPRE's active protection will still monitor for suspicious behavior and known bad programs when the program or file is launched.
Within the Active Protection settings you can also customize which file extensions you want to be scanned on access.(Checking Files when opened or copied)
You just have to click on the advanced button under the check files when opened or copied.
I am also glad that the Lan connection problem was solved.

Thank You,
