Vipre uses too much CPU when accessing large .exe files
When I access big executable files (like win xp sp3 installer) Vipre uses about 90% of CPU and my computer slows down for a long time. When I tried to install VMware workstation (500MB installer file) I had to wait about 15 minutes for the installer to start. Finally I gave up, disabled vipre active protection and computer responded fine. Is there anyway to fix this behavior? I am using vipre in 2 computers with win xp SP3 and am having the same problems.

Inappropriate?Thepeterp,
Please use the following instructions to disable VIPRE's on access checking monitor.
1. Please open VIPRE.
2. Click on file and then settings.
3. Click on the 'Active Protection tab.'
4. Please uncheck the box that says, 'Check files when they are opened or copied.'
*VIPRE has two different threat detection engines. The scan engine and Active protection. When that feature is checked the scan engine will look at the file when it is copied or opened, much like right clicking on the file and choosing scan now. With this feature turned off, VIPRE's active protection will still monitor for suspicious behavior and known bad programs when the program or file is launched.
