WHY CAN'T I UPDATE ???
I can't download updates - I keep getting an "out of date" message . it says my current version is 2271

Inappropriate?So when you click on check for updates it pops up an tells you that it fails, or you are out of date and the update window closes. Or do you mean that the update downloads, and everything seems fine, but it still says out of date?

Inappropriate?Billy, also check your system clock (double click on the time in the lower-right corner of your screen) to make sure the date is correct.

Inappropriate?The date and time clock is correct.The update window comes up -loads about 3 minutes and then stops with the message "out of date" , when I click ok , it "goes away" . The 1st time I tried to update (yesterday) it ran for 3 hours at least and then after it loaded all of the green dots - it told me that the update failed -once again "out of date" . Now it will just run between 3 and 10 minutes before I get the message.

Inappropriate?Oh - and on the "vipre" icons at the bottom - the left one stays yellow and if you dbl klik it - it says that my definitions need to be updated - klik on update and you have the same problem.

Inappropriate?Do you have a firewall that could be blocking Vipre from updating correctly? Also what type of internet connection do you have?

Inappropriate?Hi Peter , I have dial up - we chatted day before yesterday and then I purchased the software. I then "removed" Panda from the system and installed "Vipre" - installation was no problem. I use earthlink as the provider , no firewalls that I know of except for the windows firewall .

Inappropriate?Your Internet provider could be cutting off the connection if you stay online to long. You might need to contact them to see what the limit is, or if there is a way for it not to disconnect you.

Inappropriate?It doesn't "cut me off" ,I stay connected - do not have to reconnect after failure . I have downloaded and uploaded photos for a magazine I do photos for and they can last ( the down/uploads )for several hours with no problem.

Inappropriate?Peter , I went into Windows firewall and reconfigured it to "allow" Vipre with no restrictions , I'm starting the updates again , will let you know how long it runs this time - do you think that could be the problem all along ?
