Inappropriate?Hello Joe Roy,
The problem is not that your computer is not connected to the internet, its that Vipre cant connect.
Check your internet explorer settings, it could be something in here causing the problem, Open internet explorer, click on tools then internet options, click on the connections tab, in here click the lan settings tab, and make sure that only automatically detect settings is selected. Then close out of Internet explorer and see if you are able to update then.
Also make sure you don't have a firewall blocking it from connection to the internet correctly.
If you still have problems please let us know. -
Inappropriate? All those settings are as should be. looked further down this forum and found others with the same problem. manged to update the definitions manually but still cannot get an update through vipre

I had the same problem. I don't use Internet Explorer. I fixed this problem by launching Internet Explorer, clicking Tools/Internet Options/Connections and then clicked the setup button and clicked through setting up a broadband connection. All this to get Vipre updates to work on a computer that was already used to download Vipre and surf regularly using Firefox. It seems kind of silly to rely on internet explorer settings. -
Inappropriate? There seem to be times when I get update failures. I try manually
and get the discouraging "internet connection problem" complaint.
But my surfing is fine, and speedtests look great, etc. Often, trying again
right away works, but often there are periods of time when the Sunbelt
servers are apparently not responding, for several minutes or more.
It would be nice to get some advice about optimum handling of this
kind of situation -
Inappropriate?Too late to add this comment to my posting a half hour ago. Sorry.
An example of a possible helpful reply:
"If you're pretty sure it's our servers (say you've failed twice in a row,
one after the other, to get the update, yet your internet connection looks
fine), then waiting 15 minutes should do the trick."
I'm not sure about the 15 minute figure, but I bet there's something of the sort
that could be said. -
Inappropriate?GIdeon, Thank you for posting your comments.
Sometimes if the update servers are to busy, it will not respond to the request for the new updates, and that will cause your installation to think that it can't connect to the server. This is what is causing it to fail one time, but then be able to connect and update the next time. We are always working to improve the capacity of our update servers in order to handle the ever increasing number of people attempting to update.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Peter -
Inappropriate?"We're working to improve our servers" is an inadequate answer. I have experienced this problem often. Sometimes it immediately resolves. Sometimes it will work manually. Sometimes it takes a long while. Throughout my internet connectivity is fine. What makes one want to re-think this product is that there are two other highly rated security products functioning in this household and they always seems to be able to update effectively.
Sunbelt needs to offer better support in exchange for our hard earned cash. "We're working to improve" is not such support. -
Inappropriate?RHcooper, I understand your concern, we are also working to improve the entire update process, including improving the size of the definitions.
I apologize for any inconvenience, If you have any other question please let me know.
Thanks,
Peter -
Inappropriate?I offer this product as an affiliate and in the past week I have had two customers contact me with this problem. What is being done to remedy this situation?

Inappropriate?Nada_Lada, Thank you for posting your question.
There could be a few diffrent reasons why its giving them that message.
Have them check their internet explorer settings, it could be something in here causing the problem, Open internet explorer, click on tools then internet options, click on the connections tab, in here click the lan settings tab, and make sure that only automatically detect settings is selected. Then close out of Internet explorer and see if you are able to update then.
Also make sure that their firewall is not blocking Vipre from connecting to the internet.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter
