Why does Counterspy stop and ask permission for supposedlly well known applications?
Why is it that Counterspy does not recognize legitimate processes such as Windows and other well known software applications? It is very annoying that the pop-up window stops all kinds of legit applications that should be standard procedure for a software like Counterspy to know about.

Inappropriate?Hi TBerg,
Thanks for the post. CounterSpy's active protection monitors all processes within a computer. If a process does something similar to a threat it may ask you for approval or simply block that action from occuring.
To prevent these false positives you can set CounterSpy's Active protection to "Trusting".
Open CounterSpy (double-click the CounterSpy icon)
Click on 'Active Protection'
Change your Active Protection setting to 'Trusting'. This is located in the middle of the Active Protection page.
Click “save”

Thanks. I checked and the setting was for Paranoid. I lowered it one level. We'll see if that helps.
However, the reason I have Counterspy is that I am not trusting, but suspect malware attack. How then should I set the setting for trusting? -
Inappropriate?TBerg,
I apologize for the inconveniences. If the settings for the predefined protection monitors (paranoid, cautious and trusting) are not to your taste, there is the option of customizing your protection settings. This way, you can choose the action to be taken when the engine starts "beeping" for a potential security risk. The Unknown Application and Action Settings window allows configuring the alerts or granting the action for IE settings, Policies, System Startup items, Installs, Shell Options, INI File Mapping, Context Menu Handlers, Hosts File, Trojan Files and Execution of the programs.

Thanks,
