Why Vipre's definition files are so huge?
Other anti-virus and security programs offer small update or definition files often on a daily basis, and they're mostly a few MB in size, while Vipre's are always more than 100 MB. Why is it so?

Inappropriate?Unfortunately, I have Vipre installed on a PC that's been offline for a while due to lack of internet connection. So I have to download definition updates manually from here. And every time I can only see a 100+ MB .sgn file...
Is there other way to solve my specific problem? -
Inappropriate?Paultx, Unfortunately we don't have another way for you to update the definitions. Once you download that file you can have Vipre import it by going to Update Now section, and choose "Browse". But we are working on reducing the size of the definitions.

Inappropriate?The size is being reduced dramatically in a mid-May release. We are re-architecting the database structure.

Inappropriate?Does this include changing the definition updates to be all-inclusive of the previous ones if you missed a couple of days connecting to the internet? I am evaluating the home version that missed 3 days worth of updates, and it took forever as it was downloading and then installing the update one at a time.

Inappropriate?Wquin1s, we are also working to improve that part of the update process also. But it probably wont be until the next major software update is released, because it involves changing alot more of the update process.
But If it is only a few definitions behind it should download them incrementally, only if its to far behind does it have to download a larger file.
