Windows firewall not recognising SPF is running
Windows firewall is not recognising that SPF is running (I chose integration on install and it's been working fine for a couple of weeks). OS is Windows XP Pro SP 2. Is there some way to reintegrate SPF into Windows firewall status reporting?

Inappropriate?Darren, thank you for contacting Sunbelt Software.
If you go into Windows Security Center and disable the Windows Firewall does Security Center recognize our firewall? Have you recently updated Windows or done something like a system restore? -
Inappropriate?Hi Nick.. and thanks for the reply. Switching windows firewall on and off... does just that - i.e. there's no mention at all of SPF in security center. The only recent updates have been the usual definitions files, windows updates etc.. but I have 4 XP machines all running pretty much the same software and I've not had this problem with any of the others. Not done any system restores or anything like that either. I'm gonna have to reinstall aren't I?

Inappropriate?Darren,
Unfortunately, that seems like the easiest solution. You can just uninstall the firewall using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (Programs and Features in Vista). Once you've uninstalled I'd suggest running our removal tool to remove any traces of the firewall that may be left on the system:

Once you have have removed the firewall you can reinstall from here:

Inappropriate?Hmm.. slight change now for some reason?? Security center now states that SPF is switched off... though it's showing enabled in the systray..

Inappropriate?Darren,
It sounds like there might have been a problem with this installation or files were somehow corrupted. I'd still suggest a complete reinstall. Please make sure you have any other security software temporarily disabled while installing to make sure nothing is blocking part of the installation script.

Inappropriate?Hi Nick... I went for the reinstall.. but thought I'd try it first without using the removal tool. Everything is no working perfectly.. and all my previous rules etc are still in place. Many thanks for your help.

Inappropriate?Darren,
I'm happy to hear you got everything working properly! Please let us know if you have any further trouble.

Inappropriate?I think I've figured out what the problem was.. it arises if you disable SPF and reboot whilst it's still disabled. Although it shows ok in the systray after the reboot, Windows Security Centre reports that it's disabled. A reboot whilst SPF is enabled fixes the problem. Might be something you guys can take a look at when you've solved every other problem under the sun and are left with nothing to do lol!
I’m kidding

Inappropriate?Darren,
Thanks for letting us know. I'll try to reproduce the problem here and see if we can figure out why that's happening.
