When going to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services
Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service is set to Automatic (delayed start)
Is this by default to improve system performance/boot-up?
I noticed for the newest version 3.1, the boot-up time when loading Counterspy v3 along with another Security Suite is much quicker (1 minute total) versus the original 3-4minutes before when using Counterspy v2.5
I'm assuming it's associated with the fact that it uses less system resources and that it has been set to delayed start to allow all other programs (including other security software) to load up first before it loads up.
Or am I wrong? I noticed if I switched "Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service" to start up Automatic, then my boot-up time increased to 3 minutes again because I could see via task-bar that it was trying to load up first before everything else.
What are the default Active Protection settings (e.g. Which boxes are checked by default after installing the file)?
I notice there are three boxes to be checked:
1.) Notify me when CS blocks and quarantines known risks
2.) Prompt for action if CS determines that a program has suspicious characteristics
3.) Check files when they are opened or copied.
I notice that when Active Protection is on, only #1 is checked. Should the other two be turned on also? Or is there a risk of diminishing performance by turning those settings on?
Have a user who keeps lots and lots of emails in Outlook. We are not running Exchange and do not intend to. I need to increase the size of his .pst and .ost files. Archiving would help, everything I read about Exhange Archiver, looks like it would do the job for me. Is there a standalone version of the program, what does it cost and is there a trial download of such a product.
