Set Activities based on Document Location or folder in Slife Labs. Last reply on July 06, 2008 21:02.
I would like to be able to say something like "When I am working in a document that is within the path /Users/John/awesome/project/ then attribute my time to the activity Awesome Project." -

Hey companies! What kinds of information about your customers would you like to get out of Get Satisfaction? in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 06, 2008 16:29.
We're hard at work on a number of tools for companies to use to get more benefit out of their participation in Get Satisfaction, and since we have a direct line of conversation open here with all the companies using our service (convenient!), we figured who better to ask about what they want from us?
Specifically, for those of you who have had time to really dig into Get Satisfaction and are actively using it for two-way customer communication, we're looking for answers to this question: "What kinds of information/insights/data do you want to get out of our system?"
Don't just confine yourselves to information that will help you talk to your customers better -- go big. What could we pull out of Get Satisfaction that would help you in all aspects of your business, and how? What could we pull out of the conversations that you're having with your customers that would make your business better (more profitable, greater value, happier customers, all of that.) -

Pownce is dying. in Pownce.
Pownce is dying. Twitter, plurk and other services are killing it because it is too slow. I think pownce needs speed up, couple of *good* new features and some hype about those features. (maybe beta?)
I love pownce, but other peoples are leaving it... -

How about support for OpenID in Satisfaction Unlimited? in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 01, 2008 01:02.
I'd love to be able to point users at Satisfaction Unlimited but don't want to force them to create yet-another-account. Supporting OpenID on my site and on Satisfaction Unlimited would be great because I'd just tell my users "hey, head over here and start engaging".
Or am I just plain crazy? -

Grouping features + "mark company/product as interesting" in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 05, 2008 20:01.
Hi Get Satisfaction team,
I talked about the "faving" of certain topics, answers and comments in another idea, but why not widening this to companies and products?
As there's only the possibility to add or not add a company/product, there's always a slight decision pressure, as I personally don't want to drown in 100s of added products but on the other side don't want to have to search a company or remember concerning which product I'd wanted to make a suggestion. Of course, we all have a brain and Post-It's :D, but maybe my "brain-dead" description goes a little bit in the direction of what could be a problem about it.
So if you could make it possible to "mark company/product as interesting" / "flag for later reference/usage", this would be great! :) These "flagged" items should be on an extra site again of course, where you should be able to: Group the companies / products after certain criterias, which of most I think you can work out yourself. (Of course you could give recommendations here too!) This grouping feature should be available also for the normally added companies / products, because as a user that is e.g. a real hardcore web2.0 geek (I do even have sure enough 100 accounts somewhere at these web2.0 services ;-)), you should be still able to get an overview about all your added companies / products!
You could again work with retractable buttons, checkboxes and of course with re-arrangeable boxes (which represent the groups) as e.g. in "iGoogle" and "MySpace".
Ok, that's it, more than enough typed again... -

changing application icons... in Slife Labs. Last reply on June 25, 2008 19:31.
How do I assign applications and documents new icons? (if this is currently possible...)
(i.e. I use aquamacs, but in slife, it just shows up with the same icon as slife itself. I'd like to assign it something else, but I haven't been able to find out how to do so..?) -

Filtering my "Recent activity" + "my topics" in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 04, 2008 19:45.
Hi Get Satisfaction team,
as I'm posting and doing a lot here, I see that the "Recent activity" feed / stream does confuse and overstrain me to a certain amount, so I'd like to propose some solutions:
1.) Make a filtering option, ideally on the left side with little checkboxes! :)
1.1. My activity (all activity except posts & comments) - hideable
1.2. My posts (questions / ideas / problems / discussions / answers) - hideable *
1.3. My comments - hideable
* maybe you could split that up into: "started threads" and "answers" too...
2.) Additionally make it possible to a) temporarily or b) permanently hide old(er) items
a) through a clickable triangle, which minimizes the post to only let the title be left visible.
b) through a little "x" or checkbox with a checkmark.
3.) Bonus idea: Make it possible to click on (in my case currently)
"You have started 18 topics.", so I get to my started threads with a click on the underlined part. (This addresses the little grey-bordered box on the left side of "Recent activity".) -

Distinguish between IMing with different people (friends vs. coworkers) in RescueTime. Last reply on July 04, 2008 00:21.
It would be useful if you could distinguish and tag who you're talking to in instant messenger, rather than just that you have instant messenger focused. (The same way that RescueTime can tell what website you're on rather than just that you're in a browser.)
I use Pidgin to connect to several IM accounts, one mostly for work and one mostly for personal stuff. Sometimes when I'm on IM I'm chatting with my husband (NOT productive) and other times I'm really hashing things out with a colleague (very productive). -

Can I use RescueTime to record non-computer tasks? in RescueTime. Last reply on May 29, 2008 23:21.
Is there a way to manually log time spent on off-computer tasks, like working out or running errands? That functionality would be very useful to me. Thanks in advance! -

Keep search term / "search all" option / BBCode? in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 03, 2008 20:58.
Hi there,
when I do search a product or topic or company, maybe I was wrong, when I used the "topic" standard option, as it doesn't seem to find company / product names.
So in this case, I have to switch in the left drop-down menu to product or company.
1. I don't understand why there isn't a classical "search all / the whole site" option, maybe even as standard option? This would save me a lot of time, because I have to change the standard setting almost every time, as as said, it doesn't find my product / company! Costs too much time!
2. Why does it cost too much time? Because the AJAX system seems to delete the search term every time. Why isn't it possible to keep the search time while switching to another option (topic/company/products/whole site) as a standard behaviour? I think, if this is technically possible, the "keep search term" should be a standard setting, which should be only changeable via your account settings.
3. I'm wondering, why I can only search through companies & products on the home page, but not through topics?? And how get to the search field (for topics) from there? Usability!!!
(E.g. maybe I want to to search about if BBCode is possible at GetSatisfaction...)
You have to think about, in this case YOUR company / product is in a special position, of course you're not "better" than the others, but on getsatisfaction.com, GetSatisfaction is also a little bit more important and that's fine. :)
4. Can one use BBCode here? (for "bold"/"italic"/"underline" etc. formatting) Or maybe XHTML? If it works please add a note here under the "1) This is a...." part. -

User-defined splitting of large sites in RescueTime. Last reply on July 03, 2008 19:55.
Currently, all of Wikipedia is tracked as a reference/search site. That's not entirely true :) I would like to know how much time I spend editing Wikipedia and how much I just use it for reference. A few simple regular expressions, such as en.wikipedia.org/*[Tt]alk:* or looking for action=edit, would do the trick ...
Wouldn't it make sense to let users split up sites themselves? -

Can I see the number of times I've accessed something? in RescueTime. Last reply on June 06, 2008 22:16.
Can I see the number of times I accessed something, not just the total time? For instance, how often am I checking my email to make it add up to an hour? Is that once and working in it for an hour, or am I killing my productivity by checking every 3 minutes? -

Privacy in RescueTime... Delete data? in RescueTime. Last reply on July 03, 2008 19:08.
Just to seed our fancy new GetSatisfaction site preemptively...
One of the concerns we've heard about RescueTime is privacy.
Just wanted to let people know a few responses on that:
1) We're going to roll out a feature that will let you totally nuke some or all of your data from our servers.
2) We don't ask for your name and happily encourage webmail addresses for anonymity if you're passionate about that.
3) We're going to look at AGGREGATE data, but have a pledge to not look at indvidual data (unless there's a bug/error that requires it).
4) I hate to mention it, but there are probably dozens of geeks who have access to your inbox. And Google is recording your search history.
5) We're making it easy to cheat in RescueTime-- if you want to fudge your data, I'll tell ya how to do it (I bet you can figure it out).
6) It's nigh impossible to put on someone's computer without their knowing.
If anyone has any other ideas around privacy, let us know. We're pretty adament about giving our users as much privacy as they want/need. -

New Features for Groups and Pages in Facebook.
The feature sets for Pages and Groups could really use some updates to provide greater functionality. The feature that I'd really like to see would be the ability to add more feeds from other websites. My group has photos on Flickr, videos on YouTube, events on Upcoming and a blog feed -- it is a real hassle to then ask users to reupload their media to the Facebook Page or Group. I know I can add one feed in the Notes section on Pages, but this seems entirely inadequate.
My idea: Similar to the Mini-Feed or FriendFeed, I would like to be able to import media from third-party services into my Facebook Page and Group. -

What has to get improved in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 02, 2008 16:44.
1. I don't know why the title is UNDER the topic creation form, I haven't seen this ever before, I intuitively want to write my title question at first! Am I alone?
2. Why is the standard answer form at a question/idea/problem/discussion one that answers the last comment instead of the main question? That's stupid! I always might answer the question itself.
If I'd want to answer the persons comment, I can do it via the link.
3. I'd like to get much faster access to "my" products added, as the reason I added them is, I can immediatly get on their site(s), when I start getsatisfaction.com! I don't want to have to bookmark my sub-URL!
4. Companies/products should be find "Dash Command"-like, e.g. I searched your company "Get Satisfaction" with "getsatisfaction" and there was no search result!!
5. Why can't I delete a product/service, when I'm not the administrator of the group? I can't even possibly delete the products/services created by myself in such a group! This is not collaborative!
6. An product-URL I reposted got posted as "http://getsatisfaction.com/company name/...". So the "shortening" thing isn't that good. Although I don't know a solution for it.
So far for now what got my attention in around 10 minutes of using Get Satisfaction. ;)
Thanks anyway, great idea and relatively ;) usable! :) -

Company Reps: Gauge the mood in a glance in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on June 25, 2008 23:33.
You can now gauge the mood of the room (topic) in a glance with our nifty "Satisfactometer" graph on the side of the page:
If you see a tall bar under the frowny face you know you've got some damage control to do. What an exciting opportunity to turn it into a win by blowing your customers away with an honest, authentic response! -

How to match patterns in Browser titles in Slife Labs. Last reply on July 02, 2008 15:32.
is there a way to match partial page titles in safari? For example I have bug tracking pages that are "#### - Mantis" where the #### is different areas in the mantis issue tracking and I would like to aggregate time spent in mantis and the #### is also dynamic as it might have an issue number in it. Fogbugz also has a fixed part of the title and a variable component. As does trac and other issue tracking systems that I have to use with clients
