    Can I IM Sandy? Will she IM me? in I want Sandy. Last reply on May 16, 2008 20:45.

    With as bad as twitter's been the past few days, why doesn't Sandy have a dedicated Jabber account I can im with my reminders and things?

    I use IM and twitter constantly and that's the way I want to receive reminders from Sandy. If I can't rely on her to work on one of those constantly then I doubt I'll keep using this service.

    If I can't rely on Sandy to actually get my reminders to me (through twitter) then what's the point?

    twitter, ichat, jabber, always awaiting authorization, cant twitter! in Twitter. Last reply on June 30, 2008 06:19.

    Trying to use my jabber account to send updates. Added a buddy in ichat (jabber, twitter@twitter.com), it sends it off for authorization, but it just stays that way.. awaiting authorization. Any ideas?

    Why is Twitter Offline in GTalk and Jabber? in Twitter. Last reply on May 26, 2008 00:38.

    Twitter@twitter apears to be always offline my Gtalk and Jabbers accounts, why? I'm triying to send updates through my blackberry but now I can't. I'm also using Jive Talk.

    I'd really like to be able to interact with Sandy outside of email.

    The new Twitter integration is nifty, but Twitter is rather broadcasty, so a single mis-type can share your remember with the whole world.

    I'd love to see Sandy be able to interact as a chatbot thru some IM service or other. Jabber seems like a good OSS option, but any of the popular services (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc.) would also be helpful.

    Broken Twitter/Jabber gateway? in Twitter. Last reply on June 27, 2008 23:19.

    Is the Twitter/Jabber gateway broken? I have been trying for weeks to get it re-connected but it always reports that twitter@twitter.com is offline. Useless to me without this...

    can't validate/complete registration of IM via jabber in Twitter. Last reply on June 26, 2008 18:28.

    Here is the deal, I've entered my jabber id, gotten the code word to send to verify, added twitter@twitter.com as a buddy, but I'm getting a message that says twitter is not authorized yet. The name is greyed out in the buddy list. I've tried iChat and Psi with no joy.

    I can't authorize it because I can't sent the code. I can't send the code because I'm not authorized. Catch 22!

    Direct authorization link does not work, from Safari, or Firefox. I'm stuck.

    I can't validate/complete the registration of my IM - jabber w/ pidgin in Twitter. Last reply on June 25, 2008 05:12.

    I am trying to re-add my IM as a device using a locally managed jabber server. When I enter my ID (username@mydomain.edu) and select jabber as the protocol, it all appears to work on the Twitter end.

    However, on my IM client end (Pidgin), it doesn't work. It tells me that I am "Not Authorized" to IM this account (twitter@twitter.com) and I have received no request to add a jabber buddy under this account.

    Any suggestions?

    I have been trying to setup by google talk for twitter, but it always says that twitter is offline. Please help.

    jabber replies are annoying in Ping.fm.

    can the jabber instant messaging reply to posts be turned off ?
    if I want to make sure ping.fm has posted I'll refresh the service page

    Not receiving notifications in Jabber or GTalk in Twitter. Last reply on April 28, 2008 09:40.

    Hi,
    I've been trying to set up IM notifications for a few days now. I have a valid GTalk account and a valid Jabber account. I have tried using both accounts for IM notifications, and neither work.

    Here's the problem: I am able to authorize my client after setting it up on the Twitter site without any mishaps. I do get a message back from Twitter, notifying me that I have authorized the client. I get responses when sending things like 'on', 'off', and 'help'. If I send a status update to twitter@twitter.com via Jabber or GTalk, it successfully updates my status to what I just sent. But, here is the actual problem.

    I do not receive ANY notifications whatsoever that the 50 people I follow have updated their statuses. During the times that I have had the chat windows open, many of the people I follow have updated their statuses, but I get no notification that it has happened via IM. The conditions that are required (stated at http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... ) are all true. I don't understand why this is not working!

    Twitter's faultly XMPP/Jabber/GTalk interface. Can't authorize! in Twitter. Last reply on June 04, 2008 21:35.

    I can't authenticate twitter in google talk. I've added twitter@twitter.com via the Gmail interface, Pidgin, and chat/contacts (on nokia n810). when I try messaging twitter the code, I get no response, twitter is "not authorized". I have tried sending verification multiple times, and "deleting and starting over", but it doesn't work at all. It had worked fine up until late may. I do NOT have a google apps server, so that is not the issue here. I have tried via MANY (~20) different ISPs by using wifi connection, so my ISP isn't to blame, this appears to be an issue with twitter's XMPP/GTalk/Jabber service. Perhaps they should have multiple accounts "twitter01@twitter.com", "twitter02@twitter.com", etc?

    Jabber/IRC Integration in Beanstalk.

    I was wondering if there was a plan to integrate the beanstalk app with a jabber bot or IRC bot. I don't use campfire with my developers, but do use IRC and we all have Jabber JIDs - so integrating with either IRC or jabber would be awesome.

    I was going to suggest adding the ability to check-in via IM, but then I found this: http://tinyurl.com/6ys3wa

    So maybe an alternative would be to send a direct message to a dedicated Twitter account (“d brightkite @home”). That way we could just use Twitter’s Jabber bot, which seems pretty stable.

    Why is Twitter IM (Jabber/GTalk) still down? in Twitter. Last reply on June 09, 2008 00:14.

    Why is Twitter IM still down? It was, according to the most recent update, supposed to be up May 24. It is now June 8, 2 weeks overdue. I used Jabber to get updates, but I've been unable to do anything with this for quite a while now.

    Any details on when it might be back up? Supposedly, Twitter was going to keep us updated on the blog post, but nothing's happened and there's been no mention of it anywhere.

    It would be cool if there was a jabber bot to interact with. Basically another way to access the SMS tools. Without having to pay for SMS.

    First I always saw twitter@twitter.org offline in my IM client (meebo), although my messages I sent got through to twitter. I then decided to re-set the setting in twitter, but when I now add my jabber id (aaa.bbb-ccc@jabber.org) twitter tells me:
    "Please enter a valid instant messenger address. is not a valid instant messenger address"

    IM notifications through GTalk is not sending all Twitter updates in Twitter. Last reply on May 10, 2008 15:41.

    Comparing updates in Twitter.com and Twitterific, and those through IM using either GTalk or Jabber, a lot of tweets are missing in the IM updates.

    I get tweets on my phone even though my account is configured to have them sent to IM in Twitter. Last reply on November 28, 2007 19:54.

    All of a sudden since yesterday (november 27) I get all updates on my mobile phone, yet my account is configured to have em sent to my jabber account. This is quite annoying, as I get quite a few tweets.

    Is it possible to access Twitter via a third-party Jabber server? That is, if I set up my own jabber server, can I send twits though my account on my server?

    Or, does Twitter only support the jabber.org server?
