Can I make a network drive look like a local drive with SftpDrive? in Magnetk. Last reply on June 24, 2008 00:37.

Hi I was wondering if there is any way to make the drive mapped by sftpdrive look like a local drive instead of a mapped network drive (at least to the OS). I have some apps that don't work with network drives. They will work, however, with virtual local drives.

One workaround I tried was to use TrueCrypt to create a volume inside a file on the network drive. I connect to the network drive with sftpdrive and then mount the volume with TrueCrypt. It works but has a couple of disadvantages. One is that only one person can mount the TrueCrypt volume at the same time or things can get messy. Another is when I do a backup of the network drive I have to recopy the entire TrueCrypt volume rather than just the files that require updating.

I already tried the subst command, but this just makes another network drive. If there is a simple workaround that would be great! If not, I hope it wouldn't be too difficult to add an option like this in a future release? Thanks you your help!

remote/local/streaming audio simultaneously? and which id3 version? in Schillmania!. Last reply on June 17, 2008 02:04.

    Hi,
    I have 3 questions:

    -- 1 --
How's remote mp3 support? I plan to use this to play mp3's that exist on the local filesystem as well as music that exist at other locations, accross a network and was wondering what I would have to go through to enable both these options, simultaneously.
Does it involve Flash permissions, only?

    -- 2 --
How about streaming audio from a service such as last.fm? Can that be done?

    -- 3 --
What id3 versions do you support?

Great work so far, btw :)

could you add a "Local" map view as default? in Brightkite. Last reply on May 30, 2008 04:38.

I'd like to see an additional map: area view to zoom in on local friends without trying to "aim" google maps. I am lucky enough to have friends all over the US but most of the time I want to use the map to see those within 10 to 20 miles of my current location. Since the map now defaults to the entire country, I end up spending lots of time zooming in on the Chicago area. This takes enough time that I am beginning to avoid the map all together.
    Thanks for considering it!

certain files won't upload - is it becasue they are on wuala already? in Wuala. Last reply on May 26, 2008 08:27.

I have tried to upload these files to a group several times (and then also tired uploading them to my (private) files. Whenever I tried, the encryption process runs well and then they appear in the folder where I wanted to upload them to, but:
    - there's no upload activity
    - when I look at their properties (in wuala), their state remains "local"

This only happens with certain files and I still have space and can upload other files just like before.

Could the reason be that those files are on wuala already (could be possible, they were once publicly available as free downloads)?
Or is this some sort of bug?

what's the chance of getting a forum on jpg? It's a great site with really high quality content. and one of the few places where photo essays hold as much importance as single photos. I would dearly love to meet some of the jpg-ers around me, get a group together, talk about our work.... i'm currently trying on meetup.com but not having much luck. any ideas?

Local network only? in Wuala. Last reply on May 19, 2008 08:24.

HI There, suppose I wanted to run this system in a local network only, in other words, completely separated from the Internet. Is there ANY chance of getting that to work somehow?

The idea is that this could completely replace a corporate file server.

Can't link to local storage in PBwiki. Last reply on April 01, 2008 16:45.

We have a private WIKI and want to link to documents on our LAN. Obviously if we access when not on our site we won't be able to see them, but we are happy for that. What we don't want to do is have to duplicate our local storage online.

Is there a way of launching a file e.g. m:\docs\applicationForm.pdf

Better selection needed or else this site won't be useful in XOXCO. Last reply on December 01, 2007 17:31.

Heard about this site from a friend in SF. It sounded neat and had a pretty aesthetic. Only widely known films were listed, but I figured I'd have more choices once I signed up for an account. Nope. I love film, but I watch indie/cult films at places like http://www.central-cinema.com and http://www.nwfilmforum.org

Maybe people like me are not your target audience. But it seems to me like we'd be the most likely candidates to use a site like this. Most of the information for showtimes, etc. is on IMDB and I know a lot of other sites scrape info off IMDB, so it seems like it should be possible to get...

Synching Dopplr with local weather forecasts in Dopplr. Last reply on March 21, 2008 02:51.

How about incorporating weather forecasts from somewhere like wunderground.com so that we can see what the local conditions are like in places we are due to travel to - and thus pack weather-correct clothing accordingly...?
