Text Message, SMS, updates from Mobiles to Ping in Ping.fm. Last reply on July 04, 2008 21:22.

Well, it's all about SMS, mobile text messenging with Ping. Still a massive market for communication between people, groups, companies etc.

I know you can send Pings via email from phones, and even log on to your optimsed site. But often when you don't have a phone that does not have email or any decent web browsing, being able to send a TextMessage style update via SMS Ping update from your photo to your account could be pretty useful I think.

I don't think you offer this service all ready, if I missed it I apologise.

I personally would use this over my email updates from my phone which I have done, just because I have 100's or free text messages, and even if there was a min cost. it's still easier for my on my Nokia.

That why you have pretty much collared all the available input services, short of send a voicemal message utilising PING own propriety's brand of voice recognition. :)

Firefox 3 does not allow the toolbar to be installed because "it does not offer secure updates" in Loki. Last reply on July 03, 2008 11:01.

Firefox 3 (exactly beta 4, haven't tested other versions) does not allow the toolbar to be installed because "it does not offer secure updates". This error message pops up once the download of the xpi is finished and removes it automatically without installing it at all - the user has no choice to install it anyway.

AppFresh seems to show 3 Software Updates that I don't need? in metaquark. Last reply on July 04, 2008 17:20.

On a freshly installed new MBP running Mac OS X 10.5.4 Build 9E17, AppFresh lists three Software Updates available:
    iLife Support 8.2
Java For Mac OS 10.5 Update 1 1.0
    Mac OS X Update Combined 10.5.4 (r10)

But outside of AppFresh, running Software Update... shows no updates. Do I need these updates? How do I check what version of these I'm currently running? How do I remove these updates?

Updates not showing, even from Twitter.com. Am I blocked? in Twitter.

My updates are not showing up at all. I've been trying to update for the last hour through twitter.com, and nothing is showing up. It's not down, since my friends are updating just fine. What gives? A third party client said I had exceeded 20 requests an hour... but this was one minute after one! I only had it up.

Why isn't any of my contacts' updates being sent to my mobile as set up? in Twitter. Last reply on July 04, 2008 12:38.

why isn't any of my contacts updates being sent to my mobile as set up?

I have it set up to send updates to my cell phone, it is registered, confirmed and I can post to twitter from my cell, but twitter SENDS ME NOTHING! Not even the nudge to update every 24 hours as it is set up to.

I have scoured each setting for any possible reason, I removed my cell phone and re-set it up, and still nothing.

Downloading the update once to update all your SSB's? in Fluid. Last reply on July 04, 2008 07:17.

    Hi again, Todd,

It's great that Fluid and SSB's can be updated automatically, when you release a new version. However, for those who have lots of SSB's, it may become a bit of an annoyance to download the same update again and again. It would be cool if there was an optional way to download the update once and apply it to every SSB. Wouldn't Sparkle allow that too, by any chance?

Possibly remove Dejumble themes? in Thinking Code Software Inc.. Last reply on July 04, 2008 06:44.

We are considering removing theme support from Dejumble. Before we make any concrete decision, we would love to hear our users (your) opinions. If you don't like it, we wont do it.

Here's a bit of our reasoning... We have lots of great new features coming in the next release of Dejumble (with more to come after that). Insuring that new features look great with each theme adds a considerable amount of time to the development and debug process. Removing theme support and having one look for Dejumble also provides a constant look and feel for Dejumble that users can come to rely on.

Let us know what you think. Are you for it or against?

Frequent Product Updates in Bozteck. Last reply on July 03, 2008 16:34.

Do the frequent updates add to or take away from the value of the VNCScan product?

I know that some people like a lot of quick updates so that they don't have to wait months for their bug to be corrected or feature to be implemented while others would rather not see the update notifications as often.

    Your input is greatly appreciated!

How to put a hyperlink in my update? in Twitter. Last reply on July 03, 2008 07:43.

How do I put a hyperlink in my updates? Is there a special code or do I need to put the whole web address? To save room, is there a way to say, "Click Here" and have "here" as the link? Thanks!

Why am I not receiving SMS updates but I am able to update through SMS? in Twitter. Last reply on July 02, 2008 19:05.

There is a huge problem for some people like myself .. the international number is the UK number ... so you can Verify your phone and update your status ... BUT you can't SMS recieve updates as I think that info comes from the USA.
Int Dialing codes to say where I live Grand Cayman are different from the UK than they are from the USA. >

The above was previously posted on another thread. I recently verified my phone ( I am in JAMAICA). I was unable to do it through the short code so TECH SUPPORT had me send it to the UK #. So now I am able to update my status but I do not receive any SMS updates. Is there a way to resolve this.

Protecting certain updates instead of having the option protect all or none. in Twitter.

I want the option to protect a certain updates or not when I write a twitter message.
I am the type of person that has a half-private half public journal on a different site. There are somethings I would like to post what I did in life only as a single protected entry instead of all of it because I do sometimes like to post and show things to show in the public as well.

For days now, I can't get past page 2 (or sometimes 3) in my feed -- "older" is greyed out and I can't see earlier updates from friends. What's up? Happens whether I'm accessing on the web with IE 6.0 or Firefox. Annoyed I can't see what's come in overnight!

Why is @twitter_status not used more often? in Twitter. Last reply on June 26, 2008 15:27.

I really don't understand how it is that Twitter has created this amazing network that spreads word extremely quickly but that they don't actually use the service themselves. When I joined Twitter last year there was definately a strong feel that the people who ran Twitter were actually PART of that community and not just running it. Back then there was a @twitter_status account that broadcast any messages related to the service and the users of the service always knew what was up and what was going on. It's a lot easier to tolerate a problem with a service if you are actually informed about it.

For the last few days I have seen many people complaining about not understanding why Twitter is screwing up the twitter logs on the web site. I find that there is a thread here but absolutely nothing has been posted to @twitter_status until this morning. Many of us still use our phones with Twitter and we rely on status to be pushed to us because, well, that's the whole point of twitter, isn't it? The same thing was an issue a few weeks ago when there was a problem with a firewall that prevented emails from going out. The service remained in this state for 2 days and there was absolutely nothing posted to @twitter_status until a little while after the problem was fixed.

I really fear that Twitter as a company is losing sight of what it is that they do. It almost seems as though Twitter wants to hide the fact that there are problems rather than own up to them. I'm seriously starting to get the same feel that I get from companies like Research in Motion who work hard on innovating but have a consistant habit of lying about any issues, denying issues, blaming issues on someone else, or just flat out ignore anything.

Most of us, as twitter users, understand that Twitter is having some serious growing pains right now and we are a community that wants to work with you to make this service better but the more we are left in the dark the less we can do and the more frustrated we become with the service.
