x-files widget is problematic. more to come? in Seesmic. Last reply on July 05, 2008 02:34.

x-files widget and other widget video responses are destroying the continuity of the public timeline. please consider sandboxing these off so they dont appear in the timeline. this is extremely irritating to folks using the widget and folks using the timeline to respond to.

for example, some deaf users have commented on 'why are so many hearing people intruding on our conversation?' because they don't know that videos appear on the public timeline when posted on their website.

this is something that should be addressed before any more PR stunts are done.

Tips on Getting Readers to Make Suggestions in Skribit. Last reply on July 05, 2008 01:15.

We've been paying a close attention to our users and how they're using Skribit, and it's common to hear them ask 'How do I get my readers to make suggestions?', so I thought it'd be great to have a place to share tips on how to do this.

So, how do you encourage your readers to make suggestions?

It'd be nice to set a status on a suggestion in Skribit. Last reply on July 04, 2008 03:16.

It'd be nice to set a status on a suggestion such as "requested" (by default), "working on it", and "Sorry, no" Declined suggestions maybe don't appear on the widget but people who click through to Skribit see it.

Ask question directly in widget? in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 04, 2008 01:13.

At some point I thought the widget would let you start entering a question directly? If not, wouldn't that be a neat feature?

Adobe Air widget for GetSatisfaction! in Get Satisfaction. Last reply on July 04, 2008 00:14.

I don't know, if this idea has already come up, but as I read here about a widget-issue, Adobe Air did immediately come to my mind!

I'd really like a simple Adobe Air widget including these for steps for direct posting to GetSatisfaction without having to visit the site and search through the navigation menus. ;P

I made a example screenshot montage with SnagIt:

Ideas/Things To Add For BumpTop in BumpTop. Last reply on July 02, 2008 17:56.

We all know BumpTop is the future of User Interfaces, but to make it more ergonomic, user friendly, and more "eye candy-ish" with the cool animations, design and pen flicks, some community ideas and input can inspire designers to add more.

List them here, be as creative as you want for it might spark something; I'll begin with mine:

    ---

    1. Option for low or zero gravity for the icons, and maybe a subject "planet" they can obit around; for example, maybe I can create a Word Documents planet that all the Word Documents I would have out orbit around the planet.

    2. Folders, Cabinets etc on the 3D canvas that would act the same way as a real file cabinet would (maybe multiple for different types of documents) (pretty much; office furniture and supplies that would be used normally in real life in the 3D desktop)

    3. A toolbar on one of the walls showing open browsers that can be minimized or maximized with an animation

    4. Quick search

    5. Hangars on walls; maybe a quick launch or a favorites panel so that documents or files can be easily accessed without having the search through

    6. Maybe an underwater effect; as if the 3D canvas was a fishbowl, and the files would float to the floor.

    7. House of cards effect; files can be building blocks

    8. External devices appear on the 3D canvas and can be dragged etc as well as files dragged to it

    9. Maybe if the 3D canvas is square, each face of the square can be used to contain a certain type of file; for example, PDFs on Face 1, Word Documents on Face 2, Music on Face 3, Photos on Face 4, Videos on Face 5, and Games on Face 6.

    10. Pens, pencils etc to make notes on the Canvas.

    11. Widgets and a widget hotkey

    12. Minimize and maximize animations

Feel free to list any of yours and be as creative as you want!

Widget Issues in Wordpress Sidebar in Disqus.

When I put the Disqus widget in the Wordpress widget sidebar, it comes out fine in FireFox but is just a bit too wide in IE and breaks the template. Is there a way to fix this or a manual tag to add to restrict the width to 220 px?

NEW! Google Calendar Gadget in I want Sandy. Last reply on June 26, 2008 23:23.

We've just added a little something to Sandy's Sandbox [http://iwantsandy.com/sandbox] for you Google Calendar fans...

Your Daily Digest provides a roundup of what's on for the day, what's to-do, and any other details you'd like to keep top-of-mind. And if you're a Google Calendar fan, you can keep your Daily Digest front-and-center with Sandy's brand new Google Calendar Gadget!

To add Sandy's Google Calendar Gadget to your Google Calendar, visit https://iwantsandy.com/sandbox#google... and click the Google Calendar button in the right-hand sidebar.

    And, POOF!, Sandy'll be there!

You'll see a teensy picture of Sandy at the top of each day in Google Calendar. Any time you'd like to consult your Daily Digest, click that picture and it'll appear right there in the middle of your calendar.

This is one of several steps in the direction of Sandy maintaining a conversation with your Google Calendar for you; look for more to come...

    Enjoy!

How do I add the application key to my iGoogle widget? in Ping.fm. Last reply on June 26, 2008 22:48.

How do I add the application key to my iGoogle widget? I have the widget installed in iGoogle and have obtained the application key.

I don't see iGoogle installed as a ping.fm setting for me to add the key, nor can I add the key to the widget directly. Any suggestions?

dopplr badge not working with PBwiki 2 in PBwiki. Last reply on June 26, 2008 06:11.

I can't get the dopplr badge to work in my Sidebar. I'm using the HTML plugin, but it just displays blank space. There is some javascript - perhaps that's not allowed? Is there a workaround?

FYI -- the 30boxes badge that is javascript-based did not work either. I saw another post that perhaps the HTML was too "long" for the widget. However, the dopplr code is only about 3 lines.
