Gizmo5 update:
SIP calls are established by negotiating media port parameters in the Session Description (SD) protocol. We have determined that Gizmo5 sends video media information in the Session Description. The previous version of Gizmo did not send video media information in SD, and in any case, the previous version of our voice bridge software ignored this field. Our newest release of voice bridge software (deployed Thursday 10/16) is now rejecting these calls with the message "415 unsupported media type". Apparently, it does not like video media parameters in Session Description.
We are checking the SIP RFCs to see what is the correct behavior. In parallel, we've opened a trouble ticket with our voice bridge vendor. We do not yet have an ETA for correction.

Inappropriate? Will also add- talkshoephone not working with voip. Please tell us when this will be available again.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? You should be able to connect via VOiP and SIP. Although, Gizmo5 seems to be having an issue connecting, it seems it will connect and then doesn't.
We'll have to look into this further.

Inappropriate?Josh,
Thank you for the reply. Good to know there is someone looking into this issue. Talkshoephone does not connect. I'm on a Mac. Here is the screenshot of the error message - http://skitch.com/nicefishfilms/3d26/.... -

Inappropriate?Dave,
Thank you for your detailed reply. Your response not only helps me understand the issues but also gives me confidence that TalkShoe is working with the community to resolve the problem. Regarding ShoePhone, I am running an Intel based Mac and I have followed your instructions to no avail. I still get the pop up error message. -
Inappropriate?Hi,
Regarding Shoephone on Intel based Mac: Can you send me your talkshoe0.log file? Please send the log file at the address madhurip'at' talkshoe.com.
I will be able to analyze the problem after going through talkshoe0.log file. This file should be in //Applications/TalkShoe/Logs directory.
Thanks,
Madhuri -
Inappropriate?I'm not sure if this will be helpful. I'm still able to get audio through to TalkShoe with GizmoProject (the version before Gizmo5). I'm on a Mac, so I don't know if this applies to the PC or Linux world.

Inappropriate?FYI, we are testing a fix for Gizmo5 in our "preprod" test environment. Once we're confident about it's robustness, we'll put it into production - likely within 1 - 2 days.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Good to hear, however I have a call coming up tomorrow and wanted to mix in some sounds. To this point I've been using Gizmo5 for that. Are these problems happening with X-Lite or other VoIP programs as well?
-
Inappropriate? These problems are unique to Gizmo5, but that said, I highly recommend testing SJPhone or X-Lite (or other soft phone) in advance to make sure that you encounter no problems.
-
Inappropriate? We attempted to deploy a fix for Gizmo5 today. However, despite the fact that it worked perfectly in our test environment, it failed in production and we had to back-out the patch. We're investigating why. Once we've resolved the problem, we'll take another run at it.
In the mean time, all other SIP-based VoIP soft phones are operational: SJphone, ShoePhone, X-Lite, etc.
I’m not satisfied.
-
Inappropriate?I noticed that Gizmo5 actually rang a few times rather than immediately disconnecting. I can tell you're getting closer, keep up the good work.
-
Inappropriate?I was able to VoIP in successfully with X-Lite, which solves my issue. I'm not "married" to Gizmo5, rather I need a way to VoIP in so I can port in computer audio to my call. Since I can do that with X-Line, I'm satisfied... though I wonder if there is anything out there for Vista to help organize audio clips in a "sound board" fashion.
I’m somewhat satisfied.
-
Inappropriate?Regarding organizing audio clips on Vista (or XP), you could certainly use iTunes. If that's overkill, many people have reported good results with vEmotion (www.voiceemotion.com), a nice compact "VoIP audio assistant". The basic version is free.
-
Inappropriate?Dave, Any suggestions for Mac users? ShoePhone is working great but would love the ability to route audio files to the calls.
-
Inappropriate?I believe there's a Mac version of SJPhone. Check it out at http://sjlabs.com/sjp.html.

Inappropriate?I am having a myriad of problems with Gizmo5 From The software just rebooting to killing resources, to not connecting video after the call drops. I have submitted a few tickets and have gotten no answers. And can someone answer why my call out credits keep getting deducted when I have not made any calls? This has been very frustrated.
I use Debian Linux and Maemo (Nokia Internet Tablet) this happens on both systems And the system I am connecting with is Windows XP it has problems as well. We have had to result to restarting the software every 30 to 40 minutes. And this even happens when I VidChat locally and even in the Same House.??????
Some please answer the questions.
