Have a "test" cast always avilable.
It would be useful to have a "test" cast allways avilable.
This means that the "test" castID will never expire a caller to that "test" cast will hear somthing like :
"You have sucessfuly entered the cast."
This would serve people to make sure that they understand how to join a cast and that their phone sends the apropiate DTMF, before the actual cast.
Even better could be an echo test, like skype i.e. when u call the cast will record your voice and then play it back to you, giving you an audioable sense of the voice quality.
What do you think?

It's an interesting idea but would be hard to implement because TalkShoe has a tight association between a given Call Series, a given host, and the host controls.
However, I'd encourage you to create your own test test call - it's quick and easy. After you have signed in at TalkShoe, here's how:
1) Click the green "Create" button in the upper left area.
2) On the next screen (& only the first time) click "Get Started"
3) On the next screen click "Start Now" (or make it "Unlisted" if you
want to keep it private
4) On the next screen click "Start My Call"
That's it. Four clicks in 10 seconds and your test call is live!

The main issue is of the test cast to be *permanent*
i.e. not expire in 2,3,10 hours
What do you think? -
Inappropriate?OK, I think there's a new way to accomplish that. It's not yet released officially but we call it an "Instant Call". It can be done on-demand anytime.
Background:
A) The Instant Call feature works for all existing public and unlisted (private) Call Series. So you must have an existing Call Series, or you should create one now for testing purposes.
B) You must also have an existing PIN, or you should create one now. Your PIN is a 10-digit number typically matching your phone number.
----------------
To start an Instant Call:
1) Call TalkShoe at 724-444-7444
2) At the "Welcome to TalkShoe" audio prompt, enter your Call ID and PIN together, without entering # (pound) in between. This prevents others from starting your call without you.
For example, if your Call ID is 24680 and your PIN is 1234567890, you would enter 246801234567890. Optionally, you can enter # at the end to save a few seconds.
At this point, you'll hear a message saying that your instant call has been created. Now your call is live, exactly as if you had scheduled it for "right now" via the website. The system will then ask you for your Call ID followed by the pound sign (#) -- exactly like any TalkShoe call.
3) Enter your Call ID (e.g., 24680#)
You'll be prompted to enter your PIN
4) Enter your PIN (e.g., 1234567890#)
Now you're ready to go. If your Call Series is set for automatic recording, you can just get started talking. Otherwise, consult this menu of touch tone commands to start recording, mute and unmute the voice bridge, etc.:

This new feature has not been announced by TalkShoe but you have my permission to forward this topic to your friends and to blog (or Talkcast) about your experiences with it. Enjoy!

This did not work for me.
After dialing the cast ID and PIN and then # the call is disconnected.
No cast was created.
Is there a problem with the system?
What should I hear after a sucessful creation of a cast? -
Inappropriate?Hi JKLA,
Not sure why it wasn't working for you. If you call in and enter the Call ID and PIN then # you should be able to create a call, as long as you are the host of that call.
From what I am aware of, there is no problems with the System; since I was able to create an instant call about 2 minutes ago.
If it was created successfully, you should hear "Your Instant Call has been Created". -
Inappropriate?Works for me, thanks for implementing this.
