How to broadcast a mp3 file?

As a host, how can I play an mp3 audio clip so that it is broadcast to the audience? when I play it on my computer, I can hear it fine coming out of my computer's speakers, but none of my audience members can hear much of anything (just some muffled noise). I think it may due to noise cancellation feature to prevent a feedback loop. Any suggestions?
