Problem with MP3 upload
I recorded an MP3 with VR+ on iPhone and can't get it to upload - got this error:
"Action did not complete.
Validation of the uploaded recording failed. The format of this recording is not recognized by TalkShoe and cannot be processed. Please contact support for assistance."
VR+ app only records to MP3 and the file is under 300KB so not sure why TalkShoe won't take it?
Thanks!

Inappropriate? Please email the file to me for analysis: daven@talkshoe.com. Thanks.

Inappropriate?I've checked the MP3 file and found something I've never seen before. In the audio editing software that I use (Propaganda) to edit MP3s, the first 24 seconds of your file can be heard but the wave forms are not visible (very odd). I'm wondering if the file is corrupted? I verified that it fails to upload to TalkShoe (possibly for the same reason).
Next, I used Google to find a free app called MP3val (as in "validate") to check the file. It says that this file has problems as follows:
Analyzing file... State: PROBLEM
WARNING: "C:\Data\Podcasts\Temp\test.MP3" (offset 0x1047): MPEG stream error, resynchronized successfully
WARNING: "C:\Data\Podcasts\Temp\test.MP3" (offset 0x13c1): MPEG stream error, resynchronized successfully
WARNING: "C:\Data\Podcasts\Temp\test.MP3" (offset 0x45486): Garbage at the end of the file
INFO: 2675 MPEG frames (MPEG 2.5 Layer III), +ID3v2, CBR
Done!
Maybe it was a one-time issue. Please try a new recording. It's extremely rare that we hear from users with this kind of problem. In fact, I remember only one other time. Hopefully it won't recur. Try it and let me know. -
Inappropriate?Dave,
Thank you for the info - I did do some more research on it and I think I know the issue - TalkShoe recommends MP3's in a format that is a division of 11k - the VR+ app I'm using on the iPhone is pushing the MP3 files out to 8k - I took the same file from VR+ that was error'ing out and converted it to 11k in another audio program and then it uploaded fine.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Well done. I still believe that there was more to it than that. The original file must have been corrupted, not just encoded in a non-universal format. Anyway, I'm happy it's fixed!!!

Inappropriate? Thanks again. To others - if you are using VR+ with your iPhone, unless they update the file formatting after I post this, you can only push out MP3's as 8k which won't work with TalkShoe unless you convert the MP3 to 11k (or 22.5k, or 44.1k, etc) before uploading, using another app first. VR+ is still a very good app, so hoping they will offer an update that gives an option of 11k formatting so it can be all-in-one.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? One more point. VR+ DOES NOT record .mp3s on the iPhone. They are in .caf format. Once you upload it to their system and have their system send the file, it will be converted and sent as a .mp3. The best recorder on the iPhone for .mp3s is Audio Recorder by Newpea. Records as a high quality .mp3.
I’m OK
