ShoePhone Cannot Connect -- Talkshoe ShoePhone was unable to connect to the call.
Worked last week. Now it force-updates 2 modules (pjsua-macosx and console.jar), then fails. Re-install, etc. is futile. (apparently download image is not uptodate). can supply log files, if desired.

Fortunately I have a 2nd computer -- G3 iBook running 10.4 Tiger.
So, I tried a brand new install -- identical problem.
What concerns me is that even on a brand new, supposedly current install, when trying to run the program, it tries to force-update!

Inappropriate?Peter,
Our bad. You're right that we forgot to place the latest TalkShoe Live software on our download page. I will go torture the offending engineer so that it won't happen again. ;-) Seriously, we greatly value your help in sorting out these problems. Thoroughly testing a release in advance is just not possible given five major browsers, two different computing platforms (Mac & PC), and untold variations of Operating Systems, Applications, etc. With your help, we're getting there.

OK. Please let me know when the universal binary is up. (Or if I can help testing the my PPC computers.) -- Peter -
Well, I thought that it was a simple matter of compiling a universal binary and putting it up for download. Apparently not (yet). So, in the meantime, since Gizmo also doesn't work, what's a PPC Mac user to do? Is there a free VOIP client for Mac that works with Talkshoe? Failing that, I suppose there's Jahjah, which is free, unless you have to pay for incoming (i.e. on a cell phone). -- Peter -
Inappropriate? We have just deployed the fixed ShoePhone for Mac client in production. Please try it now and let us know if it works well for you. FYI, it should go through an automatic update when you first launch it.

I re-installed, and it works perfectly. Thanks so much! -- Peter -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem with my PC (XP). Firewall is allowing access, but I still get the same error message that Peter got. I have cable internet access, 6G up and down, so speed isn't a problem. I noticed somewhere that Firefox was a problem for Macs....Could this be the problem for my PC?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? We've not seen these kinds of issues related to specific browsers -- Firefox vs. IE vs. Safari. That said, I'm not clear on exactly which problem you're having. This recent post may be helpful if it's a connection problem:

Other than that, this could be due to running Skype or other VoIP client simultaneously on your computer. Often, they appear to be closed but are still running as "TSRs" (Terminate and Stay Resident programs). In general,TSRs will be shown in your Taskbar in the lower right. A right-click on the appropriate icon will offer a "close" choice.
If it's something else, please reply with more details. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Dave, this did help! Although I still can't connect using ShoePhone, I saw in the link where you mentioned Gizmo. I downloaded it, set it up, and "called" into TalkShoe with the 123@(ipaddress) number. I did a test recording on my Unlisted Call Series, where I usually run tests, and it sounded great!
Thanks for the help!
I’m excited
