For Vista users having problems with TalkShoe Live Pro since TalkShoe's October 16th new software release, we've figured out a work-around. The problem is due to Vista's UAC (User Account Control) silently blocking the update. Here's how to fix it:
1) Click Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> "Turn User Account Control on or off" to disable UAC and then reboot.
2) Launch TalkShoe Live Pro by "Joining In" to a live call (or "Start My Call" if you're the host).
3) After successful launch, re-enable UAC: Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> "Turn User Account Control on or off" to enable UAC and then reboot.
TalkShoe Live Pro will work thereafter. In the very unlikely case that it doesn't, the final option is to also temporarily disable Windows Firewall (or other firewall) along with UAC in order to execute the update.
There are no reports that this didn't succeed.

Inappropriate?Im running Vista. It used to work, but today it just refuses. I can't join my own calls or anyone else's. I've tried on both firefox and internet explorer, but to no avail.

Inappropriate?I've just tested the latest version of TalkShoe Live Pro automatic update on a fresh Vista machine, as well as tested a fresh install of same. Both worked perfectly.
When you uninstalled, did you use our uninstaller (Start [the Windows icon] -> Programs -> TalkShoe -> TalkShoe Live Uninstaller) and reboot before reinstalling a new version from here: http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/...
Let us know and please provide any other information that you think might help us decode the problem. For example, does it still occur if you switch to the Vista "Basic" color scheme. Or does it still occur if you disable Aero (if you're using it)?
Thanks for working with us to diagnose this.
By the way, in the mean time you can use the TSL web client instead of TSL Pro.

Inappropriate?Dave,
I did indeed use your uninstaller in the first place. I have however followed your instructions above regarding uninstalling, rebooting and then installing a new version and this still does not fix the problem.
As regards Vista Basic color scheme, my computer automatically switches to it when required as it has done in the past when I have used TalkShoe Live Pro.
As I am connecting to the call through the internet using a mic and headphones, I can not use the TSL web client if I wish to speak and record my calls, right? -
Inappropriate?Blah,
Thanks. We're continuing to investigate. Are you running Aero? Did you try disabling it?
In the mean time, you can use any SIP-compliant VoIP client to call TalkShoe. As fate would have it, we're having a problem (diagnosed but not yet fixed) with Gizmo5 right now but I can also recommend SJPhone (http://sjphone.org/sjp.html): The TalkShoe number (IP address) for SJphone and most other VoIP clients is 66.212.134.192 -
Inappropriate?I have tried disabling Aero and still I can't get it to work. I have also just tried downloading SJPhone and that is being a little unstable...guess its just not my day!
