TalkShoe Live's phone connects... but doesn't connect.
Whenever I try and get on TalkShoe Live! and choose the in-program phone option, it says it's connected but never is. There's no phone icon next to my name or anything, but the icon in the lower-right assures me that I'm all connected. I've tried everything and clicked everywhere, and I've turned off all my firewalls... I'm not sure what else to try? Any suggestions as to what's wrong?

If you were on a PPC-based Mac running Tiger, this was a known problem that is now fixed. Otherwise, please test it one more time and if it is still a problem, let us know your platform (Mac or PC), your operating system version, and anything else you think might be relevant. Thanks.

Inappropriate?I'll have to have somebody from the team, other than me help you with this one. Since, I am not good with ShoePhone.

Inappropriate?Hm, well I tried it again, then reinstalled Live, but it didn't work either time. I'm running a PC with Windows XP (Service Pack 2). I have McAfee running, if that's been known to cause any problems. But like I said, I have tried it with the Firewall disabled so... I don't know.

Inappropriate?Amedeus,
We've not had any other reports of problems with ShoePhone on XP. Let's try a different VoIP client to see if that works. Go to http://sjlabs.com/sjp.html and download SJPhone for PC. The address you'll call is: 66.212.134.192
Unlike with ShoePhone, you'll be prompted for Call ID and PIN -- enter those with the touch-tone keypad on SJPhone.
Let me know how that goes. -
Inappropriate? It's coming back saying Network Failure when I try and dial in. Assuming I'm doing it right. I'm typing in sip:66.212.134.192. I'm hoping that's right? Maybe I read something wrong.

Inappropriate? To use SJPhone, first make sure that no other VoIP apps are running (e.g., Skype, etc. - be sure to actually close and exit such apps. As they are "TSRs", they may still be running even when they appear to be closed).
Start SJPhone and click the "i" near the lower left area. This puts it into IP address mode. Enter 66.212.134.192 in the field at the bottom (do NOT preface the IP address with "sip:") and click the blue phone icon to initiate a connection (lower right). Next, you should hear the TalkShoe announcement to enter the Call ID. Click the touch tone keypad icon (just above the "i") if the touch tone keys are not already visible. Click the numeric keys to enter your Call ID and PIN.
For further help with SJPhone, please consult their FAQ here: http://sjlabs.com/softphone-faq.html

Inappropriate?Mmmnope. It's still just dialing for awhile and then pops up and says "Network Failure". Man, something does not want me on here!
-
Inappropriate?OK, so we've got two independent VoIP clients unable to reach TalkShoe. That implies that there is a third-party product interfering. Please find and temporarily disable any and all firewalls on your computer and on your router and test again. If that doesn't help, please contact your ISP/DSL/Cable company and see if they're blocking VoIP traffic (some do because they offer their own VoIP phones).
