When calling TALKSHOE, all I get is CALL FAILED
I downloaed xlite yesterday for use with talkshoe only and it was worked great until a few hours ago. Now when I call in at 66.212.134.192 I immediately get a 3 tones and CALL FAILED, NOT ACCPETABLE HERE message. I contacted Xlite and upon a trace, they say that Talkshoe is rejecting the call as an INVITE. HEre is part of their reply to my email: " But the error message is the response so either the server or the destination being called is rejecting the call with "SIP/2.0 488 Not Acceptable Here" response

Inappropriate?This error may indicate that the SIP lines are either full or in need of a reboot. The Shoephone uses these same SIP lines to connect and when the lines are really busy, you may not be able to login using Xlite or other SIP programs. You can always callin using your cell phone or landline by dialing 724-444-7444 and keep in mind that long distance charges may be applied depending on your phone service.

Inappropriate?I emailed counterpath regarding connection problems I was getting with X-Lite, here is their response:
This is not the first time I have heard of this issue with Talkshoe. Unfortunately the 488 "NOT ACCEPTABLE" error message is coming from their server so only Talkshoe's SIP admin/support staff can say what the issue is.
I have not been able to replicate-- when I call the talkshoe SIP address I am connected ok.
It may be somehow related to network configuration as the other user experiencing this issue only had it at their home location-- if they took their laptop to work it was fine.

Inappropriate?There have been no other reports of this issue currently. It may be in your Xlite configuration. Have you tried another SIP program, such as Gizmo or SJPhone to see if they connect for you? Also, Shoephone uses the same interface as the SIP programs do, so you might even try Shoephone to see if you can connect.

Inappropriate?It is not the configuration settings in X-Lite, please re-read my post, you'll see the response to the logs I sent to counterpath, it is a TalkShoe problem. Counterpath has identified the problem as being at Talkshoe's end, not with their software or my configuration settings.
Gizmo5 often does work but it has been recently problematic when trying to connect, regularly not recognising the correct DTMF tones sent through, this is not only a problem for me, but for an increasing number of people coming into my calls over the last few days... the thing is, I'd rather not use Gizmo5 for several reasons, one of them being that the sound quality on X-Lite is a lot better.
I hope a solution to these Talkshoe SIP connection problems will be sorted out real soon.

Inappropriate?If Gizmo5 or another SIP program is working and Xlite is not, then it can't really be a Talkshoe issue as then no SIP program would be working, including the Shoephone. Talkshoe only has a few SIP ports open and when those ports get full, then the SIP interface will not function for others trying to connect.

Inappropriate?I've uninstalled X-Lite, removed everything from my system and in the registry to do with Counterpath and X-Lite, I then re-installed X-Lite, reconfigured everything from scratch but it is still not connecting.
It did work perfectly fine the very first time I used it, the configuration was exactly the same then as it is now, but now it just doesn't connect.
Can someone please help me get this problem sorted out so I can use X-Lite?

Inappropriate?I feel your pain Guessed. As I told you on your show, I got xlite working and it worked great for a week. Yesterday it would not connect again and still won't. It does if I disconnect the router and go straight into the modem. I have all the ports opened (the ones I recommended to you), and made no changes in my system settings. It is just a glitchy thing I guess. If anyone has suggestions why the router might just knock it out, I would love to hear that as well.

Inappropriate?Could you test using XLite again on TalkShoe? It is 123@66.212.134.192 and if it doesn't work, just let us know right here. We'll look into it, but I haven't had any problems recently with the TalkShoe SIP access through XLite.
