Can I block a "nearby" user?
Can we block another user from the "nearby" feature? There's a guy that lives near me that must tweet 100 times an hour. The "nearby" feature should be called the "Markeezy" feature. I love the nearby feature, but if all I ever get to see is this dude's million posts, it's pretty useless to me, and probably to all the other Twinkle users in my area.
I tried blocking him on Twitter.com, but that doesn't appear to have carried over into Twinkle's "nearby" feature. Any help would be appreciated.

Inappropriate? We're working on adding blocking to a future release of Twinkle, which should make filtering out the people you don't want to see much easier :)

You say you are working on a way to make filtering "much easier" but as far as I can tell that feature does not exist at all in the current version. I have screenshots of completely inappropriate and offensive content sent by a user nearby me and I would like him to be blocked or banned as soon as possible. I could not imagine using an instant messaging client without a block option and Twinkle is pretty much unusable without one since I have to see pornographic images every time I check out my private messages or nearby Tweets. -
Inappropriate?I would like to block HYE. This user is always using 'skin shots' bordering on Porn shots as their avatar and they also include pictures of naked women and such.
I really am not a prude, but I feel this is better left to one's own bedroom, thank you. It is bothersome as the user has naked genitalia as their avatar and other VERY GRAPHIC content. Just not something the public needs to see except by their own choice, perhaps
I’m turned off

Inappropriate?there is a guy near me (dmiller5406) who is actually posting penis shots. There really needs to be a way to block disgusting jerks.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?chris, this definately needs to be a high priority or you are going to lose a lot users of the nearby feature. Constant tweeting is one thing but abusive and pornographic tweets are completely different.
-
Inappropriate? Please block dmiller5406 from tapulous. He is being very abusive and posting pornographic images.
-
Inappropriate?Due to the abuse I have stopped using Twinkle until there is some way to block users.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?it's a shame right now cuz this app got so much potential and it is probably gonna be the next big thing.. the concept is certainly great so im certain there'll be more apps like it but it needs this block feature thing asap!
-
Inappropriate?I love Twinkle but I'll have to stop using it because I cannot block a few users who are incredibly annoying. They post so much garbage that it blocks out users that I actually want to see nearby. Please prioritize this and push an update fast!
The "nearby" feature is not only useless without blocking, but downright disgusting. There's a couple of guys here who post non-stop trolling comments for women, along with graphic photos.
Don't let Twinkle become associated with exhibitionist porn. -
Inappropriate? Is there a way I can send a screenshot TO THE Emplyees? I took a screenshot of HYE's posts so they can see the type of avatars he's using.
I’m Disgusted

Inappropriate?http://www.grabup.com/uploads/cd3e038...
People seem to think this is a chat client. My nearby is completely filled with chats between like three people who despite this being a public thing are constantly talking about smoking pot and hooking up. no thanks, not why I joined twitter.
the worst part is, this is the best interface around, and I dont want to have to move on to something else. Please implement something as easy as swiping like i do to delete emails.
That way when I get a 'SUP GUYZ WHATZ THE POINT OF THIS THING?' 'SUP ROOM?!' flood i can just block them.
-
Inappropriate?I realize that all this innane and offensive chattering is a problem, but...couldn't you just not look at the nearby section? That seems like a pretty simple solution for the meantime, to me at least.
I’m incredulous
-
The "Nearby" section is the ONLY reason to use Twinkle, there are better free apps out there to use for Twitter. If it were not for the nearby section I would have no use for Twinkle. -
I also like the 'nearby' feature of Twinkle, meeting other nice people through this part. Yes, we could avoid it, but why should we HAVE to? -
Inappropriate?@christapher
That's kind of the point of twinkle, to have a conversation separately from twitter. If you notice, it doesn't show up in your regular feed when you're in the "nearby" part, the only other people that can see it and converse.
however the people trying to hook up and sending each other gross pictures is annoying as shit and I wish we could block people.
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate?I'd also like to chime in that this is a major issue. I'm also subjected to dmiller5406's pictures and I really could care less what his penis looks like.
Thanks very much for your consideration in this matter.
I’m surprised this wasn't in the first release..

This guy "italys finest" in the NYC area, not only does he provoke people randomly with racial and ethnic slurs, now he's resorted to posting gigantic "gibberish" messages which make it difficult to even read past them to see what others are saying (it also "unnaturally" bumps what others say off of the limited scrollback) Are there any type of tapulous terms of service or anything for twinkle? Because this individual is basically close to denying service for others in the area (yes i know it's a free app, but all the more reason someone can be kicked for abuse).
thanks

Inappropriate?Blocking is part of Twinkle 1.2, which we're in the process of developing now. Please be patient, if we post a half-baked update to the App Store it'll cause a lot of problems.
In the mean time, if you can report really offensive people to Andrew (see http://tapulous.com/about/andrew/ for contact details) he can look into them and warn and/or ban them from the network.

Thanks! -
Inappropriate? Thanks for responding again Chris. I'm glad that you folks at Tapulous are aware of the problem and working on a solution currently. I think you can see the scope of the issue from the responses here, and I know that all of us users, frustrated though we may be, can appreciate your wanting to put out a quality update to the app.
The reason we're as frustrated as we are is precisely because you at Tapulous have built an absolutely smashing app otherwise. We all look forward to Twinkle 1.2, and will cross our fingers that it gets here as quickly as possible.
I’m Waiting (mostly) patiently
-
Inappropriate?Chani B's post reminds me we should really thank the Tapulous team. I love Twinkle and hope a desktop app will be in the future, it is our 'love' for the app that makes us a bit vociferous when some individuals make it into a less-than-pleasant exp.
I too have been lax at being polite to these fine folks who made a GREAT app! Thank you for all you do. This is one application I for one would not mind paying a few bucks for.
I’m Glad they're On it!
