Cliché: "Business Model" ^^,
This might sound very "cliché" but...
... your current apps are free and ad-free (thank you xoxoxo) but the question needs to be put as we consider the future of these great apps:
*How do you plan on getting revenue to continue the (amazing) work you've done so far?*
I really appreciate free, especially considering the AppStore doesn't provide us with a "demo/trial" mode (I was thinking 3-5 days would be a good option) nor the ability to set discounts/promotions! Again, no one can beat "free", but I'm just curious as to how you guys plan on supporting your work... :)
Good luck with getting your apps approved and getting some added features on the SDK that would allow you to expand the already amazing TTR and Twinkle! :)
Cheers :)

Inappropriate?Being free has obviously helped TTR a lot in the popularity stakes, so we're pretty happy with free. I hear a lot of cool ideas being thrown around the office, and though I'm probably not the guy to ask when it comes to Tapulous' long-term business plans (I'm an intern!), the about page mentions Premium versions and exclusive content, as a start :)

Inappropriate?I definitely get what LeviFig is saying. Especially because your giving out so many prizes... thanks, anyways.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Another possibility is that once an application has been established as amazing, we can make a premium or 2.0 version and charge for that. It's like the whole Lite idea, but instead of taking a good app, making it crappy, and expecting you to judge us on that, we make an amazing app, have you judge us on that, then make it even better.
We could also make some small apps and release them for a little bit of change. You'd know they were worth the money, because they'd be from a name you trust. -
Inappropriate?*** Okay just read this for the hell of it, as I was too quick and did not read Mikes post, which pretty much covers what I wanted to say, except for the island part ;-) ***
Put really simple it usually goes like this...
1. Make something everything loves
2. Make it free
3. Make it better than your competitor
4. Build a huge customer base of your awesome free stuff
now it can go a few ways
A. Create something even more awesome or make a PRO Version and sell it - alot of customers will buy your stuff because they trust you and love your stuff.
B. Sell your company to a another big company. Buy an island and live happily ever after
Please don't see this as something bad - that's just how business works and people need to eat and have a home to live in and raise their kids. Thats how life/business works.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? There's a third option, C, which is to put ads into your awesome free stuff. I'm not in charge of these decisions, so I don't know for sure whether A, B, or C is on the cards, I'm just makin' conversation :)
-
Inappropriate?Option A: I'll evaluate the Pro version and buy it if: 1. It adds features I need OR 2. It is decently priced, has nice features and I feel like helping the devs
Option B: I'd be happy for them, wish the mega-company that bought them doesn't destroy the product and... envy the fact they had the good idea before I did! :p
Option C: I'd start looking elsewhere... :|
^^,
I’m amused

Inappropriate?I agree with LevFig, I'm MUCH rather pay for it than have ads. Maybe come up with an ad based and free version like Twitterific?
