Desktop (Adobe Air) Twinkle app?
I've been a Twitter user since the 3rd day it was public. I have to admit I had grown kinda of tired of it over the past few months. Twinkle has changed that. With the addition of the Tapulous network and being able to keep track of the "nearby" community members I am excited again.
While I know the Tapulous network (and in fact Twinkle) are not going to be tied to Twitter only. I have to admit I really do miss being able to view "nearby" messages while using my desktop Twitter client (Twhirl).
Any chance of you creating an Adobe Air app (for cross platform support) so we can see our "nearby" posts while we are on our desktop as well?
If others like this idea as well please vote it up.
Thanks!

Inappropriate? We pushed the 1.1 update yesterday, which I've been using the last few days and has been very solid and addresses a few other issues people have noted. But yes, the approval process takes quite a while. I do hope you'll be back, and I hope we can win back some of your friends who have moved to other apps -- we have a lot more in store for Twinkle.

Yeah Apple is sadly taking quite some time for most update approvals, not just twinkle. But I must admit - I had my twitter account for quite some time, but never really used it - until Twinkle came along and I got my 3G. Now I throw a fit when it crashes on me and I have to use another product. Hopefully Apple will get its stuff together and speed up these update processes. -
Inappropriate? This idea is good, but I'm worried for one specific reason: The opposition to Tapulous accounts that has run rampant around the App Store.
Needless to say, I cannot imagine a desktop client being developed that ties itself to your computer. The beauty of the Tapulous account is that you do not need a password - so it doesn't feel like you've signed up for anything. Implement a required password, and there will be drastically fewer signups, and greater opposition.
In addition, a normal computer has no locating abilities. It cannot locate you, making it useless for Twinkle's greatest feature: The nearby screen. Sure, you could enter your city or zip code, but that takes away all the fun, and doesn't tell you how many miles away somebody else is, unless you're tracking the center of a zip code, in which case a million tweets will come from the same place. A good example of where this will be particularly disastrous is NYC, stuffed to the brim with people and tweets.
It's a wonderful idea in concept, but would destroy the client. It was built around iPhone exclusivity, and as such incorporates too many features specific the iPhone to work as a desktop client.
I invite the developers to give it a shot, though. On OS X, it might make a neat widget. -
Inappropriate?I deleted 2 of my posts that did not address the current thread subject.

Inappropriate?I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of adobe air stuff.. I would much prefer a native app if one was ever done. It would be neat to be able to enter in your location and see local tweets on your laptop etc.
I’m amused

Inappropriate?I suggested Adobe Air because they would only have to write one app and have it run on multiple platforms. The only other option would be Java and don't even get me started on Java apps.

Inappropriate?Switching from Twinkle to the basic Twitter app when I get to my desk is a letdown in functionality. Someone PUH-LEASE develop a desktop version of Twinkle!
-
Inappropriate?I'd also love a desktop app! There is an abundance of geo-location services out there, and you can also take input from the user in order to locate them.
I’m looking forward to this!

Inappropriate?I don't use Twitter, but I think Adobe Air would be a good choice. They could make 1 app and it would work on each computer, pretty easy huh? One of the big ++: You won't get any specific bugs :D.

Inappropriate?Hey thanks for the suggestions!
