Guest Mode
Obviously the Tap Tap games are the sort of game that gets passed around, but I'm finding it annoying (in Tap Tap Dance and Christmas with Weezer) that when other people play and score 85% on a song, the game records it and I end up missing out on completing parts of the game for myself.
My idea is to add a "guest mode", where you'd press a button on the main menu (which would light up to show it's active) and the game would stop recording scores until "guest mode" was turned off again.
EDIT: A "Reset Scores" option wouldn't go amiss, either. :)

Inappropriate?I like that concept. Ideally you would create a "player" when you start the game, so multiple people can progress through the game.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? That's a good idea, although it might be a bit difficult to fit it in without messing up the feel of the page.

Dude, please don't bump 10 month old topics. -
It was on the front page...aren't we expected to comment on things that are on the front page? -
That doesn't mean it was active.
Always check where the last post is. -
Ahh, ok. I'm new to the site, so I wasn't sure if the age of the suggestion mattered. -
I'm not meaning this to sound argumentative -- I seriously am curious. People get reprimanded on here for creating duplicate posts and they get reprimanded for resurrecting existing posts about something they want to discuss. That seems a bit contradictory.
Anyway, I do understand the "no duplicates" thing, but what's the problem with bringing back a topic that was never resolved or that you have a new idea or question about? And how do you know when something is "too old" to discuss again? -
It never is too old to DISCUSS it but resurrecting an old topic to say "This Is a Good Idea" is a waste and pointless... etc. -
In my defense, I offered the point that it would possibly be difficult to insert the button without making the page slightly awkward. Buttons that aren't used significantly often do that. -
Inappropriate?Well speaking of this...you might as well not do it because your friends will get you Tapulous coins and points! :P
I’m LOLing a lot today. lol

. . . or ruin your online rank. -
That's why you turn off Wi-Fi :P -
*sigh* ok so since this has been bumped anyways....
it is a good idea for those who are unwanting to log in, but we already haev a guest mode anyways....? -
How do you get to the guest mode? I've never seen that. It's not on the main screen or in the options. -
lol this is an idea........
Xanadeath -
It isn;t there, but if you're not logged in.... Then your in "Guest Mode" -
haha @BPP...
@jkatj: FAIL! -
That's not exactly a simple thing. You've got to go into options, then edit profile, then click edit profile, then scroll to the bottom and click advance settings, and then submit a form, then wait for a confirmation email, then reply to the confirmation email. By that time your lunch hour is over and it's too late to hand your phone over to a friend to play.
I haven't tested, but when I first started up TTR3, it made me pick an avatar. Wouldn't your friend then have to go through all that before they could start a game as well?
Overall, I'd say that it hardly counts as a "guest mode" if it takes more than a couple steps and a few seconds to get there. -
Inappropriate?I think Mike Lee was fired from tapulous.... http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/08/26/...

Inappropriate?Yaaa last night I let my g/f try TTR3 online and after a few songs she absolutely *hammered* my online rating...lol...No big deal but a "Guest" mode would be nice for 2 reasons:
1) You wanna let someone else use your ipod/phone without touching your character, or
2) You're in the mood to play online with a "just for the hell of it" mentality and don't wanna worry about your scores
"Guest" players would be able to rank after each song, but they would have no record of past scores, no profile and also NO effect on other players' points/rankings. You could even make the "Guest" avatar some kind of generic character (dare I say Tapulous mascot lol).
The only problem, maybe, is that it could be harder to keep players accountable for anything (hacking, cheating, inappropriate chat, whatever).
I’m diggin the idea of a "guest" mode
