Has support for identi.ca in twinkle been considered?
The API should be compatible with twitter, but there is a lot of community driven improvements happening around identi.ca right now.

Inappropriate?I came here to ask the same question. Since the Tapulous wants Twinkle to be more than just a Twitter client, Identi.ca could be added and allow for posting of updates across both services.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Adding this should be really simple. The identi.ca API is 100% compatible with twitter, it's just a matter of changing the API URL. Making this URL changeable in the preferences (defaulting to twitter) would make Twinkle compatible with all laconi.ca installations automatically.
-
Inappropriate?I'd be happy to help with this if anyone at Tapulous wants help. Our dev relations guy, Zach Copley, can be reached at zach att controlyourself doat ca.
-
Inappropriate?I second this, it would be great to have twinkle support both twitter and identi.ca - perhaps even with a unified timeline?
I’m sure you can do it
-
Inappropriate?Come on Tapulous ...

Inappropriate?Hey guys -
Sorry about the lag - we are considering a number of improvements to Twinkle... As per your suggestions, identi.ca is something we're talking about. -
Ed, this was "something you were talking about" last month. Has it moved beyond that? Any idea if this is something that you folks are serious about, or something you aren't interested in doing? -
We plan to integrate more services with Twinkle, it's a matter how and which services. -
For followup - we went ahead with FB connect. Now we've got Twinkle, Twitter, and Facebook statuses. -
Good for you! Let us know when you're ready to try for identi.ca and Laconica. We've got operators standing by to take your call. Seriously, it's gonna be an easy port for you. -
Hi luke funny seeing you on here
it's ffb from olpc -
Inappropriate?Glad to finally hear a response, Ed. I really hope you guys do decide to go with Laconi.ca support- since it offers a Twitter compatible API, it shouldn't require a great deal of developer effort. Your UI looks like it was designed with that kind of expansion in mind.
-
We are considering a number of options. -
Inappropriate?Ed, let me know if there's anything you need to make this happen. Clearly a lot of interest from users.
I’m excited
-
Will do, thanks Evan! -
Inappropriate?will it happen? probably never, since the last reply is "5 months ago"...
sad

We considered it, but decided to go with Facebook connect instead. We may consider more services in the future, but just not sure about it yet. -
moreover, you missed the comment from "7 days ago", when they gave an update. -
Inappropriate?Note that identi.ca supports the twitter API, so this is not exactly rocket science. Just add a field for server name, and you're done!
*sigh
I’m frustrated
-
however, for an app like Twinkle, I assume they have QA procs to go through, etc, to ensure that they don't have to push through fixes later. (which costs much more money than fixing them prior to a release) -
Inappropriate?this probably won't happen, will it? i guess that makes twinkle a no-go for twitterless people (like me)
I’m sad

Inappropriate?People still use Twinkle?! :S
There are far better apps out there now, take a look at Tweetie for example.

i don't have a twitter-account, only identi.ca, so tweetie is of no use for me -
habi: Tweetie supports Twitter (of course), as well as any microblogging service with a Twitter-compatible API, which includes identi.ca. It's just a matter of entering the identi.ca API url, and you'll be ready to go.
