TTR2 2.1.1 Tap Recognition Failure
After playing a good couple of games, rocketing me up the leaderboard, 'Get Smashed Gate Crash' comes on, which I rather like because I can 100%, however halfway through the song the game started randomly not responding to touches, loosing my streak and causing me to come 9th/30.
Also in 'Get Smashed Gate Crash' I find that it is also impossible to score points on all the shakes because the Phone recognises previous shakes as an early shake for the next arrow. Even when I shake it a really small amount and return to the central position asap I still find that the accelerometer must still be bouncing around or something because I can never score many points on that section and still keep the multiplier.
I also agree with the idea I read somewhere about having different levels of shake points like you do with normal taps. It's often online that when arrows appear that I move up/down depending on if I managed to get it in the microsecond time gap.
Also, I find that after a long session of tapping the battery in my iPhone is considerably drained and mid-song I get the 20% Battery left warning, this automatically pauses the game, however this still often looses me my streak. Is there any possible way of stopping this warning? I doubt it due to Apple restrictions but worth mentioning. (The recognition problem occurred when the iPhone was plugged in so I wouldn't suspect it's a power issue.)
Otherwise, awesome game, and just an Idea about preventing people hacking into the leaderboard and what have you, to prevent high scored over the maximum you could have the game store the time and length of each tap hold and shake and submit this instead or with the score. Then compare this with the 'notesheet' re-calculate the score on your server and use this. Although this may cause further lag issues it's just an idea.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?yep, today happened the same to me, the shakes were failing or something cause they didn't give me points, agh! maybe it's just my idea causa i have lost millions of thousand points in just a coupule of online games hahaha :/
I’m surprised of how many points i can lose =)
-
Inappropriate?I'm having further problems with this, I've noticed this particularly when there are regular taps alongside or close to tap and holds. For example in Get Smashed Gate Crash.
It's really ruining my attempt to make it to No.1, (I'm having the third thumb installed next week), luckily very few people seem to 100% songs so I can always make it to 2nd or 3rd when I loose my streak halfway through.
And the arrows please do not put them so close together in any more songs, I am certain that it is 100% impossible to get points for every arrow in Get Smashed Gate Crash. Not even the weird mutants in the top 10.
The accelerometer just isn't quick enough.
The best I can manage is to score every other shake.
I’m unhappy.

your eyes have to be very coordinated to the screen during that part -
Are you talking about the touches or the shakes, I can do the touches perfectly, and have done offline and occasionally when I don't lag online. I touch but it does not respond, then lags for what must be 1/10th of a second, and then I loose my streak and it carries on.
I just played again, and the same thing happened, it's always when there is two taps at the same time, my thumbs hit the screen at exactly the right the time, together, but it only seems to register one. -
Inappropriate?I also have issues in certain songs with shakes not ending before they hit the next arrow, therefore giving me an automatic 0 (luckily I keep my streak)
-
ditto on this one too. -
Inappropriate?Happens to me often too. What really annoys me is how some people just get 100% all the time in online games, as if this problem doesn't affect them...?
I’m a little frustrated
-
I lost my score completely since the last update :(
And I know I am playing as well as I have before. I also see people having no problem. It's awful. -
yep! same here deborah, i keep playing as i'm used to, but in the online rooms, now my ass is getting kicked by other people, i don't know if it's a failure of the tap recognition, that is affecting to only who have that, and the others who stay in the previous versions are kicking our ass haha argh i'm so desperated! HELP! -
Inappropriate?I don't understand how some folks can score more than 50,000 more points on a song that I FC and it's usually someone with a higher global rank but not always. I'm just now discovering that accuracy is key to scoring but have yet to determine where that accuracy lies. I try to tap at the crosshairs and can do so with great accuracy. Yet my final score (100% FC) is never consistent.
BTW, I too am having a lot of "mis-hits" that are right on target and it generally follows multiple taps. What's odd is that I actually see the splash yet my streak ends abruptly.........as does my sanity. This game can bring out the beast when you're on a roll and this happens.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
I’m ready to flush the touch
-
if you get a splash you got the note. In a very few songs, there are taps that are actually 2 taps on top of each other...
But more likely, that would mean it at least thinks you're over-tapping. 1 thing I used to have some issues with was one of my fingers accidentally nipping the screen as well when I was hitting with the correct finger.
Just something to check :) -
Inappropriate? There are already varying degrees of points/score depending on how well you shake an arrow. It's just like in TTR1, except that game had more scoring opportunities, whereas TTR2 has only 4 (0, 50, 75, 150).
And please guys/girls, never say something is "impossible." -
lol..so we cant say beating you is impossible? (course its not..just very very...very hard.=P) -
I don't advance my score because of my arrows., DX. When I use your grip, I am at a complete loss. I usually screw up. Any suggestions? -
Inappropriate?Yeah, I have had that problem as well but I'm usually aware of what I did and can accept it as an error. What's happening lately is I clearly hit the note as expected and I still lose my streak without any other interference or error. I also experience hesitation and flashing especially when playing online. It's almost as if someone is trying to bump me off (though I'm confident that's not the case) and it's usually when I'm in first place. It's just weird, you know....

Inappropriate?Hey R0ck1t,
here's some things I found that helped me. Maybe they will help you.

Inappropriate?Definitely an issue that has re-appeared with TTR2.6. The problem actually seems worse on the "higher performance" platforms like iPhone 3GS & iPod Touch 2G.
The dropped taps seem to happen most often when there is a tap simultaneous to a tap & hold, but not always. I've seen tap & holds just drop while you are holding them! Also LOTS of issues with arrows. -
I'm glad that you bumped the topic. I wouldn't want it forgotten. BTW, I have seen the nick "bufulos," and it's a good player. Is that you also? -
bufulos = bufulo, but I only use bufulos on an iPod Touch 2G. Eventually I'd like to merge the two accounts, moving all my high scores to the bufulo account. Not sure that will be possible though.
Interesting that I seem to do quite a bit better on the iPhones. I think a lot has to do with the size being a better fit for my bigger-than-most hands. The original iPhone is just awful to play on though due to the slow, stuttering graphics. iPod Touch 2G & iPhone 3GS are very similar, with a slight edge going to iPhone 3GS.
I'm about to install Apple OS 3 on the iPod to see if that is better or worse. I've read lots of reports that it is worse. I may even go back to Apple OS 2.2 if upcoming 3.1 doesn't solve the WIFI issues.
