Tweets made using Tapulous ID, not Twitter ID?
When I've written a tweet in Twinkle, it seems to be posted under my Tapulous ID rather than my Twitter ID, despite the latter being registered with the application. This means that it doesn't appear in my posting list on twitter.com, and no-one who's following me can see it.
Twitter is definitely enabled in preferences.
Have I missed something obvious?
(P.S. It would be useful to add to option to use your Twitter profile image as your Tapulous avatar, in addition to the options to take or use a photo...)

Inappropriate? This looks to be normal. Personally, I don't care for it at all. The Tapulous ID serves what purpose, exactly, when it comes to sending to tweet to Twitter? Why are our tweets even going through the Tapulous servers?
All other names on my Twinkle screen are the actual names of the users, except mine, which is the username I picked for Tapulous. It looks ugly.
Also, the picture...why would I need to upload a different picture than the one I am using in my Twitter account profile just for Twinkle?? This is poor design. I obviously want my TWEETS in TWITTER to have a certain image associated with them on the Twitter Web site. Why would I want to specify a different picture for Twinkle users to see (including myself) when they view my tweets in Twinkle? The Twitter users can't see this different image. Only Twinkle users can. So it makes little sense to me.
Add an option, guys. Allow me to use my Tapulous profile pic, or my Twitter profile pic, when posting tweets. Then you are happy, and your users are happy, since I don't think any of the users asked for this feature, and it seems that enough people are complaining about it to warrant a change.
Twinkle was my favorite Twitter client before firmware 2.0. Please don't replace what we, as Twitter users, chose to include in our own Twitter profiles. Leave it alone. We obviously like it, or we wouldn't use the service. Our profile pic and user name on Twitter is all that is needed and your account ID information can be used for your games and left out of the Twitter client.
Please remove these "features" or add an option for BOTH the profile pic AND the username.
I’m sad.

Inappropriate? As I posted in another thread where you made the same comments, Twinkle will soon post to more services than just Twitter.
I'm sure you can appreciate the design problem we face when you're cross-posting to Twitter, Facebook, Pownce, and Friendfeed all at once (I'm not making particular promises about those services, those are just examples) -- which username and avatar would you expect Twinkle to use in that case? I'm not saying this problem is insurmountable, but it's an interesting one. -
I can totally see the issue you face. I think my issue is that Twinkle was just a Twitter client before, and worked very nicely. Now it's going to be more. Don't get me wrong, I welcome it being more...but...here is where the issue arises. You're right...which username should be displayed? If this were just a one-way post-to-multiple-services thing, it wouldn't matter. But if we are talking to other people as in a quasi-conversation, as Twitter is used to do, knowing their correct usernames is important. The pictures help as well, since I look at the Twitter pic to remind me who the username is (I follow several people that post often, and keeping them all straight in my head so that the conversations make sense to me is important). If they are one person on Twinkle, and another person on Twitter (assuming their usernames on each are different, and they might be, if they selected a different username for Tapulous when they first played Tap Tap Revenge, for example), how can users keep all that straight. Posting one-way, as I said, this wouldn't matter, but they are going talk back to us on Twitter. It is, indeed, and interesting dilemma. -
Inappropriate?Indeed you must keep in mind we intend to support more than just Twitter soon in the future. The problem at hand is that we don't give you any choice on what you want your display name to be (as opposed to your Tapulous username). We need you to be on the Tapulous network to give you all the features that make twinkle special like a nearby location feed, and built in pictures support. We CAN'T do these things without having our own server and make it as seamless as you see it.
Not to play down your issue, we do know that people want more control over their profile image / name and are thinking of a good way to solve it without breaking the Tapulous-augmented twitter experience :) -
Personally, I don't think it matters that you intend to support more than just Twitter. When posting TO Twitter for me, Twinkle needs to use my Twitter name. It needs to use the appropriate name for all the services you intend to support.
The feature to post to Twitter is useless if it's not part of my regular Twitter feed. -
Tom Parker: It does use your Twitter ID to post to Twitter, but Twinkle users will see your Tapulous ID on their Twinkle screen. In Twitter, they will see your Twitter username. -
dmetzcher: Hmmm. Maybe I don't entirely get what this thread is about then. Stuart's post above says that his posts don't use his Twitter ID and don't show up in his timeline. (Mine do work as you describe, but it seems his don't.) -
He's saying that his post show up in Twinkle not using his pic or name. When I post from Twinkle, Twitter shows my username and photo but Twinkle shows the Tapulous profile information which is obnoxious. -
Inappropriate?how do i associate my tapulous id with my twitter account?
-
Inappropriate? When you fill out the Identity pane, both with Tapulous and Twitter info, the two are associated automatically
-
Inappropriate?thx, the twitter box was just taking forever to load. this thing's crawling.
-
Inappropriate?i think they're just getting hammered right now. after i finally got the box, i type my login and hit save, and after the spinnie thing turns and turns forever, i get "Could Not Save"
-
I got this the first time I tried as well (last night). After 30-minutes or so it saved and everything was working. -
Inappropriate?@ thebasa on your iPhone?
-
Inappropriate?yeah 3G one
-
Inappropriate?same here. just waiting now. your pic looks familiar are you on gizmodo too?
-
Inappropriate?i think the only other place i used that one was babgvant or thegreenbutton. so now it took the login, but all i get is spinnies and the whale tail. here's to a useable pwnage 2.0 soon so i can revert to installer twinkle. worked every time
-
Inappropriate?I deleted TTR and Twinkle because I was couldn't figure out how to disassociate myself with the stupid Tapulous account. I'll stick with pocketweets for twitter.
The worst part is that it's undeleteable and permanent to the phone. Restoring doesn't work. So if you were to sell your iPhone to a friend, they'd have your account info saved. Yeah. Smart.
I’m angry.
-
Umm doing a clean restore (not using a backup) will delete these settings. -
Did you press the 'Help' button in Twinkle where it lets you delete your profile? -
skierdb526: No, a clean install does not get rid of these settings. Tap the help button on the ID screen. "It uses your unique device ID..." -- However, that same page allows you to log out from the current iPhone so that you can sell it on eBay, so it is possible, but it does not require a clean restore, nor will it work if you only do a clean restore. -

Inappropriate?ugh, this has been the most exciting and disappointing day at the same time. I'm finally past the missing twitter box, whale tails, server errors, perpetual spinners and twinkle's loading my messages and- boom! right after the loading stops: crashola, every time and back to the main screen. Reinstalled, uninstalled all but a handful of apps, no dice. I have the ult respect for software devs, being one myself but damn, very disappointing day. I just want pwnage 2.0 and installer to get back to solid twinkle love
-
Inappropriate?Unfortunately I have to agree with the consensus here. I do not enjoy the fact that Twinkle started showing the Tapulous icon and using my 'Tapulous Profile' in the feed.
I understand that Twitter shows everything as normal but the point of this app was to interface with Twitter not signup for ANOTHER feed aggregator. If I wanted that I'd sign up for FriendFeed or something.
It's really a shame, I was really enjoying this product.. much more than Twitterific on the iPhone. But I'm not about to setup a new profile on a new service to access all the other services I'm associated with, that's just obnoxious.
I think it would behoove you guys to separate out the products. I don't think many people who want a solid Twitter experience want to also interface with Facebook and other services. It just adds more noise and more complexity to what used to be a nice streamlined experience.
If you are going to add all this other garbage to this app can you at least make it so we can bypass your service and interface with only ONE service. I just want to access Twitter, nothing else, and I'd like my Twitter picture / name to show up, NOT a Tapulous one.
I’m bummed
-
I on the other hand look forward to updating facebook as well. i hate having to update both. who has the time? anyways just wanted to say thanks for the good job and all the support youre giving us for this FREE product. Its free so we cant complain that much. You guys are doing this out of the goodness of your hearts or just so it brings us into the company so you can sell us products down the road. either way great apps and keep it up! -
Just because it's free doesn't clear it from criticism. Especially when they are guising the application under one thing and building out another service over it. I don't like the fact that Twinkle doesn't utilize my Twitter ID / info within the app itself. If you want Facebook integration, set it up on Twitter or get the Facebook app. -
You do have to remember though that this is how twinkle has been since its launched. they had an idea and this is what was created. it was set out to be more than just twitter. if you want just twitter get twitterific or twittelator. twittelator is free as well and probably more on par with your desires. and i do have the facebook app. -
Well considering for the past few days Twinkle was functioning exactly as I expected it to, no I didn't realize this. I think it's odd that they don't make their intentions more clear. It's a shame that they are throwing away an amazing Twitter client to join the throngs of 'do everything' social apps. I moved back to Twitteriffic today but I'll keep an eye on this, hopefully they figure out a good compromise because this app was quite a bit better than the other options. Oh well. -
I think that you are right in saying there should be a feature to bypass the server for twitter only messaging. that way we can avoid server issues on twinkles side if they have problems and we dont mind alternate syncing. -
Twinkle started out as a Twitter-only client, but after building such an extensive backend to support photos and geolocation in a much more seamless way than our competitors, and the queueing system so that Twinkle users could keep posting even when Twitter.com is down, it became clear that we had built more than just a Twitter client.
Whether you want those features or not is evidently an
