Twinkle used to work, now crashes on launch
I downloaded Twinkle last night, been using it then and today. Then at some point, Twinkle decided to stop loading. Now when I try to launch it, it gets to the "trying to figure out your location" message for less than a second and then proceeds to crash. I don't have any ideas as to the cause, I didn't do anything bizarre.

I've discovered the problem and have fixed it for 1.1. The issue is someone has an avatar from twinkle that's failing to load, and we don't handle the failed avatar properly which crashes Twinkle :(
This bug is particularly bad, so we'll try and get a push out ASAP for it but unfortunately the turn around for app store updates is taking nearly a WEEK!

Inappropriate?Ok, I deleted the app from the iPhone and re-synced with iTunes, and now it launches and I can see all these overloaded problems that you guys are dealing with. Still, this was kinda weird.

Inappropriate?This just happened to me. I had to delete it and reinstall it from the App Store to get it to work. Same thing happened yesterday.
Right before this problem occurred, Twinkle would take about 15 seconds to open with the default background, and relocate me every single time I re-opened it. Stability issues?

Is there any way that the email address' used to sign up could be notified of the release immediately? I'd much rather use Twinkle than Twitterrific but I don't have a choice right now. -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem, but it's only when I try to locate people near me - the other tabs work okay (well, apart from the save Twitter info which is always a little flaky [sorry guys but it still is!])
Maybe I'm following people that don't have the avatar issue?

Inappropriate?I was just using Twinkle fine about 5 minutes ago and now it won't work. Every time I try to start it up it shows the blank star page for a few seconds then as soon as it starts to locate me it crashes. I've tried restarting my iPhone. Is there a problem with the server again? Twinkle is awesome, but I hate when apps keep having problems. I hope this doesn't become a weekly thing for Twinkle otherwise I guess I'll just have to stick with Twitteriffic for it's reliability.

Inappropriate?Amazon S3 is currently having an outage. Twinkle uses Amazon S3 to store avatars. Thus it seems that with Amazon S3 down the bug that Tristan described above is being exacerbated. You can watch for more information from http://status.aws.amazon.com/

Inappropriate?We are also watching the S3 service like everyone waiting for it to come back up. Its a wake-up call for us that we should also provide a way to locally serve image content when S3 is down and we need to ensure that the client degrades gracefully in such circumstances.

Inappropriate?If Twitterific used S3 too, then indeed that this is a S3 issue because Twitterific's avatars are not loading either. So it all comes back to Amazon.

Inappropriate?Another problem we are hearing is that a major bug with the Apple 2.0 firmware has caused a large majority of all applications to no longer boot up on some users phones. Apple recommends that you delete and reinstall these applications.

Inappropriate?I'm getting a crash every time that it opens. I've done nothing different...other than liking the product and attempting to Tweet via the interface. I've tried hard resets...I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling...nothing has resolved the crashing problem that's been going on all day. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm getting the server error, too. It still posts, though. Just hit "cancel" after you get the error, then refresh.

Inappropriate?I am having the same issues as everyone else. It loads up, sits for about 3 - 5 seconds and then crashes on me. It was working just great up until this point. Weird... been like this for the last 4-5 hours.

Inappropriate?Now that Amazon S3 is back up, this is happening a lot less for me.. but every once and a while a certain person will write something and their avatar will cause twinkle to crash for me.. if i wait a few minutes and try again, their post will be far enough down the list that as long as I don't scroll down the nearby list, I won't have a problem. It's quiet annoying.. I was really enjoying talking with people yesterday, but now I am being forced to keep quieter than I want to.

Ah yeah... i tried to uninstall the app, which went fine, but i didn't have to reenter my credentials. how do i remove the personal settings? -
Inappropriate?There seems to be a problem with my own personal profile image. If I go to the settings page before it locates me, it will not crash. But if I try to edit my profile to remove my picture, it immediately crashes back to the springboard.

Yes, it's most definitely that, I can scroll down the list of people near me, then as soon as it comes across someone with a faulty avatar the screen freezes then comes out of the app. It's nice to see the Avatars, maybe the next version could have the ability to switch them off (i.e. give a lot more switchable options)
