Why have Tap Tap Revenge 2 Tap files been encrypted?
One of the things people have loved about TTR was the ability to create custom taps. Now we all know that it violates the SDK rules to tap into the iTunes library, so people with jailbreaked iPhones and iPod Touches found a way to create their own tap files and import their own songs in to TTR.
However, with the release of Tap Tap Revenge 2, you guys have taken that freedom away by encrypting the tap files... I wish to know why you have done that?

Inappropriate? It's not that they're encrypted - those files now contain much more information than their predecessors in Tap Tap Revenge 1.

Inappropriate?ed, please just release like an official tap maker for ttr 2 in the next update. u could have it let u choose from the songs on ur ipod, and then tap to them. there could even be another catagory for custom songs next to extreme. it takes up 2 spaces, so....
-
You know, that would be pretty cool... -
Thats a pretty cool idea,,,
But to add to that I think you should charge for it. I mean releasing this great version of TTR2 as free is crazy enough cause of the negative reviews bout crashes and stuff which isnt the company's fault for so many uploads...but an extra app like a TTMaker shouldnt just be given out... -
Inappropriate?umm? I'm still wondering if it is possible to read the tap files so I can create custom taps?
-
Inappropriate?just went thourgh the app. it uses a new format called .ttr2_track ed is speaking the truth that it contains way more info however it is unreadible in notepad so i will have to go thourgh it with excell or word later just comes out to random characters the file is about four times the size
oh ed can i play you on ttr2
I’m confused
-
As soon as our servers are back, I'll be in the online rooms.. I'm boardinsnowman -
well ed i am xrosoft -
Inappropriate?yeah... I already knew that... I went in there too and found the same files the day it was released... it cannot be read with anything I know of. I though maybe it was some form of plist file cause of the first few characters of the tap file "bplist", but it turned out not to be...
So I need to know what kind of file it is and Tapulous obviously isn't willing to tell us how to read it.
Almost seems like they are against users making custom taps /:
I’m pissed
-
Inappropriate?Um well smokey, we said he like the idea of that kind of thing in the game, but man just chill, and yes they don't because that's how people cheat, they pcik a song and make it easy but with slot of notes, and their goal isn't to help the unreliable jailbreaking software
-
Inappropriate?Ed*
-
Inappropriate?Almost seems? tHEY ARE AGAINST IT
-
Inappropriate?O.o I didn't even think that you could use the modified tap files to cheat. But now that I think of it, that is possible.. There are already people out there working to break the encryption
Jailbreaking software is not unreliable... without a jailbroken iPod, it would be useless!!
till then... peace out!
I’m determined!!
-
Inappropriate? It is true - in the early Tap Tap Revenge days people modified those files to cheat. We don't condone it, but I'm sure people will figure it out soon enough. (Not to cheat, but to create new tap files... we have other ways to prevent cheating.)
-
i didnt know they used it to cheat i should pay more atention i only used them to well play van halen songs -
Well we implemented that fix pretty quickly.. -
interesting, I was pretty aware of what was going on in the Jailbreaking community, but I had never even heard of people creating their own tracks. -
Inappropriate?it says bplist at the begining of the file so i'll make an assumption that its a form of bplist still working on figuring this out my teen brain hurts
tried plist to xml converter didnt work ill keep trying -
Inappropriate?the true early days was when it was Tap Tap Revolution xD I've only created taps for the purpose of playing with my own songs...
and I already tried converting form plist binary to ASCII...
the encryption needs to be cracked with more professional software because you need to figure out the algorithm. -
Inappropriate?can you gimme the file template? ed, i know you r good guy. i'm not cheating but i want to put my james bond in it
I’m indifferent
-
No, sorry :) -
Inappropriate?dude!! with the 3.0 firmware, the SDK rules no longer apply to the iTunes music library. Apple now lets you tap into the iTunes music library, so now would it be possible for you guys to implement a Tap Maker?
I’m hopefull
-
Inappropriate?ugh god cant you guys just play with what you got-go though the 200 music library(or how ever many) and just be gratefull for the good ones...if you like making new songs for tap tap submit it to them, maybe they'll like it and publish it or something...
I’m annoyed.
-
Inappropriate?hey guys, i found a way out to customize the song set.
here it is: http://tapmaker.freeforums.org/time-t...
I’m happy
-
eventually we will crack that encryption! xD -
Inappropriate?Ed, do something about this, delete the thread or something! We don't want more hackers in the highscores, do we?
-
I said I'm not hacking the score!!!!! We want the freedom to tap our own!!!!
Do you know english? -
Inappropriate?I doubt that you can get any Black Metal onto the Tap Maker song list so I will continue to find ways to creating custom tap files...
I’m hahaha
