Youtube replays for TTR3
I first experienced this feature in real racing and I loved it. The thought of sending videos of my races to youtube is great but it would be even greater in TTR.
Here's how it should work.
1. Play a song
2. tap on the option "send track to youtube" (which is next to the replay button ;)
3. video sent
4. Everyone becomes jealous of your fc
Lots of people have been making vids of TTR and sending them to youtube but they kept making mistakes since the camera may be right in front of their face or they get nervous on camera or something else. Some people don't have video cameras to video their FC of a song.

Inappropriate? This would be a nice feature. However, the additional lag generated by this would not be worth it.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?Oh that'd be awsome. Making vids' a pain in the rear...and the load time is insane...2 hours=\
-
Inappropriate?Good idea. But depending on quality, it may lag a lot, who knows what could happen.
If you have a jailbroken ipod, you can record your screen as you play. :P
It would be nice though.
-
how? -
Inappropriate?Interesting... Would you use this often?
-
I'd use it ALOT. I'd use it every time I got an FC on a song. I'd also use it to make people jealous of my score ;D -
it's more fun watching the player actually tapping it..instead of like that video krohn posted of the bot playing. It'd be boring just watching green taps. All the vid's would look the same =P
But I'd still use it. -
i would use it if ttr3 is good -
he makes a good point. -
I don't know... I might use it once, but people who subscribe to my channel would get irritated pretty quickly -
to me it only seems useful if you want to point out how tap tap DIDN'T respond to something you did :P
actually, I seriously am considering making a video showing how tap tap misses taps...
but maybe you could actually FIX it so I wouldn't have to... -
I'd use it for my top FC's :) -
Yes! -
Inappropriate?I'm confused.... is this with a new iPhone 3GS feature?
-
Probably not... but not sure yet. -
It's a feature in the iPhone 3GS video camera if you mean taking a video with the camera and sending it to YouTube.. I also think it's a Dev Api because I saw it in real racing. -
Inappropriate?I would use this quite a bit. Having the direct iPod screen capture as well as footage of the finger tapping side by side would make for some great videos.
There could perhaps be a demo feature where your inputs are recorded by the game and saved locally. This way, the recording does not take place live, potentially affecting framerate or other aspects of a live run. When you're ready to save it as a video, you could always just play the demo recording back and let the game save it as a movie file to share to e-mail or youtube.
I don't have Real Racing. How does that game go about doing this? -
I don't have real racing either, I played at an apple retail store and checked out features and gameplay. From what I know the game uses
http://www.cloudcell.com/ The game uses technology from cloudcell which is how they got the feature to send YouTube replays to your YouTube account.
It can't be that hard for tapulous to work with them, I'm sure cloudcell would be honored. -
Inappropriate?Although this is an excellent an awesome idea, I think it would suck up a ton of memory and weeken the performance of the gameplay.
I would, however, use this for almost every good score I get on an FC of a cool song.
Maybe there could be an option to turn off record?

An option to record or not record would make sense for those who want to take the risk of laggy and slow gameplay
It's obvious that TTR3 won't be super fast but if they implemented this feature at launch then they can work on improving it in the future. -
Nice Idea krohn -
Inappropriate?Actually if you think about it, it actually wouldn't take up that much more memory. The game already stores when u hit the notes and if u hit the notes or when u hit the screen when there was no note. This is used in battles in a smaller way. The game does store all the info so what would be optimum would be that the game stores that, which would be a small file, and after the song it renders it into a video file. This way after the song it would create the video from the data and thereby it uses no extra, or very little, memory while you play the song.
This is already done with the battles in a smaller way and in online play the data is constantly transfered and received. If it is just saved at the end and then rendered. No extra memory and really easy youtube FC uploads.
Another option would be that you post it to Tapulous (similar to the battles) and they do the rendering but that would require a strong server (which could be made with the revenue from TTR3).
I think I may have repeated myself but I think that this would work with minimal memory usage regardless if it is rendered on the Ipod afterwards or through Tapulous.
The only problem is that it wouldn't really look right without fingers tapping it.
This is how it would look like (off course this is a bot and hopefully you would be hitting the notes with more accuracy)

Another problem might be youtube copyright issues. One of DX-Chain's videos already got the audio stripped.
Can I get a reply from ed about this? It seems possible and fairly easy.
EDIT: Sorry DX, I only read your post after I had already posted this.
I’m writing too much
-
Oh shit, which one got the audio taken out? I checked and didn't get an e-mail about it. -
I think it was the original Bloodmeat one so it had crappy audio. Youtube silenced it so there was the original audio with heavy breathing and all. -
Inappropriate?Ok I still have bloodmeat and may have others, I can send you a battle report if wanted....
Anyone? -
what's bloodmeat? I want that song if it's in my tap tap playlist afterwards :) that would be cool :D
