Why doesn't the bookmarklet shorten urls?
How about shortening-urls by default when using the bookmarklet? Services like twitter and identi-ca would get a short-url (I like bit.ly or whit.me), because they limit up to 140 chars, but services like delicious wouldn't.

Inappropriate?Another idea would be a custom made javascript code for the bookmarklet that bypasses the tarpipe user authentication. I really think you should stay away from server-siding the bookmarklet activity as much as you can.
