Some other sites that would be good to include...
GetSatisfaction - No brainer this one, has reputation markers built in!
Other microblogging services (laconica, Jaiku etc) - not everyone is on (or even likes) twitter!
Disqus.com - contributions in terms of number of comments?
Amazon.com reviews
Wikipedia - number of contributied pages? number of changes removed?
Delicious & Twine

Inappropriate?Other recommended sites:
- Digg
- Slashdot
- Stumbleupon
- Other blogging platforms (perhaps by using FeedBurner stats?)
I definitely agree that twitter isn't everything. -
Inappropriate?Other sites that are not related to "social networking" or "gossip sites":
- iphonedevsdk.com
- stackoverflow.com
- developer blogs (Mac, iPhone, Ruby on Rails, the internet in general, etc.)
We should appreciate internet experts, software developers or web designers more than just some people who talk too much on the web.
I’m confident
-
actually all *three* of the stackoverflow family would be good to add (serverfault.com & superuser.com) -
Inappropriate?- github.com (sorry another developer things).
- blogspot.com list of followed blogs. -
Inappropriate?Virb
Gizmodo
Blogger
Lifehacker -
Inappropriate? As long as this doesnt drag down my Whuffie salary for not being much on those sites, im okay with this.
*likes*
I’m happy
-
I also see that *non* memebership of a site should have _almost_ zero efffect on your Whuffie.
I see a small negative for non-participation would be acceptable for most people if it applied only to people with "high" whuffie (i.e those who won't notice it currently, but who, if they stop participating at their current level, their Whuffie would fall). Also this is how i understand whuffie to work in Cory's novel that inspired the idea :) -
Inappropriate?I mean, of course the whuffie salary has to go down if you do nothing, but just couse you add sites with your account, it shouldnt go down DRASTICALLY for not doing much.
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?Aside from adding sites, there should be an analysis of how each person contributes into those sites.
As I had been told, Whuffie measures influences that reach the "most" amount of people. But, I'm not sure how "deep" that influences could be ?
A celebrity attracts any type of people. But, those people may not really adore the celebrity as much as few other people that influences them more "deeply".
But these people with limited popularity don't influence the most amount of people.
So, there should be a measure of depth and breadth from those sites. -
Inappropriate?More ideas:
Newgrounds.com
Flash site, with many games etc, get whuffies if your flash is rated high or for rating flashes (thus helping the creator judge how much of a good job he did, A win-win).
linux.com
The official linux community, it even has its own karma (guru-points) system, so should be easy to use that
Youtube
Duh, same as newgrounds but with videos instead of flashes.
Also, I want to add that Comments etc should be worth noting too in all the sites.
In slashdot for example, you can rate comments (well, sometimes) and post news, both should count. They also have their own karma system.
As far as i understand this, doing stuff that people like (/or is helpful) should be rewarded. Good rated comments for example should count then, couse people found it helpful or amusing.
I’m amused

Inappropriate? Some good ideas. I especially like the wikipedia one, it'd be cool if you could do something with a tangible benefit and get whuffie.
I would add
-BOINC/Folding@Home distributed computing projects (donating your computer power to a good cause)
-Places like digg, reddit, and newser which track both up votes and down votes. Penalizing you for RT'ing (which seems to be how it works now, I'm not sure) seems like a worse idea than penalizing you when your offending/bothering others, and reward you when they vote something you say up.
I’m amused
-
RTing gets you penalized?
Its the other way around bro. -
Inappropriate?how about general search engine results for one's name & email? shouldn't they figure into this schema, somehow?
