Hyperspaces could show an (optional) Dock icon
Wouldn't it be good to have a user preference to choose where to see Hyperspaces icon (and action menu): Menubar / Dock / Both.
For those who prefer access the actions through a right-click on the Dock, it would be nice, and it would allow to save precious space in menubar for items.
Moreover, an extra action could then be added (to the Dock icon only):
drag'n'drop of an image to the Dock icon would directly set this image to the current Space.

I've added this as a usable feature to the latest beta - I'd love if you could try it out. Please read the release notes before downloading/installing.

Inappropriate?Agreed - this is a good idea. I'll work on this feature after 1.0 is released.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? The good news is that this is in place in Hyperspaces 1.0fc3 - but you'll need to disable the "LSUIElement" option within Hyperspaces' property list yourself for now.
The dock icon will accept images being dropped onto it to set desktops, and clicking it will active Apple's spaces overview.
I'll add a user visible preference to control this in an upcoming build.

Inappropriate?I got it, and edited the "LSUIElement" option.
This worked perfectly. Great.
Nevertheless, to be perfect and let the Dock icon be as useful as the menubar icon (and eventually replace it when being the only one displayed), its action menu should lists the same contents...
=> for the moment About, Preferences and Help are missing...
By the way, I don't know if the Dock icon menu can have submenus (like the menubar icon) but when making those two menus identical, maybe the "About" item could go to the Help submenu (containing Updates and Contact)?
Thank you for the effort :-)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?> I got it, and edited the "LSUIElement" option.
For the newcomers, that means for instance to double-click in the Finder on Hyperspaces.app/Contents/Info.plist that will open the Property List Editor.
Then you just have to uncheck the line "Application is agent (UIElement)" and save.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?By the way, what about the "evolution" of this new great feature?
- having all the entries of the MenuBar icon also in the Dock icon?
- having a user-friendly preference to enable this Dock icon?
(e.g. Sort of preference list of choice "Icon: MenuBar/Dock/Both)
Thank for the effort again of adding a first menu, that's nice!
I’m confident

Nothing to report on this just yet - I'll put some energy into this after 1.0 is released properly. -
