Feature Request: Groups in Twitter
It would be fantastic if we could easily create "Groups" for Twitter. For instance, I would love to be able to create a "Tech" group and a "Non-Tech" group and assign the people I follow to those groups. Then select the "group" I want to view from the sidebar and have EventBox only show the Tweets from the group I have selected.
TweetDeck has this feature, so it can be done. Is this something that can already be done? If not, consider this a feature request.
Thanks.

Grouping in TweetDeck is the single compelling feature of that app, even as badly-implemented it is. Implementing it EventBox would be fabulous. Now, of course I'll want groups synched between computers :)

Inappropriate?I'll file this as a feature request.

Inappropriate? One note. When I referred to TweetDeck, I neglected to mention that their implementation is horrible. When you create a "Group", it gets deleted forever if you close the particular group tab.
I hope you're able to not only bring the groups feature to EB, but have it work better than TweetDeck does.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? This is one of the reasons we do not give ETA on feature requests - we want to make sure it is done properly and not rushed just for the sake of having one more feature.

Inappropriate? While groups are neat, I think support for multiple accounts would be better. If I subscribe to many high-volume streams and then group people, my other Twitter clients (iPhone!) are still totally swamped. Instead, I love having two (or more) accounts for different topics. True, it's not as flexible, but it helps to keep the whole thing manageable even on small screens.

I fail to see how having multiple accounts would in any way help me organize what tweets I can see at a glance. I don't want to manage two or more Twitter accounts, that defeats the purpose of the app to begin with, which is to "simplify" -
Inappropriate?Jim,
maybe I didn't explain it too well. Multiple accounts are really great to help you with organization only insofar as you can single out friends who deserve special attention. I have one account where I read every single tweet, and in a timely manner. Another account has so much volume that I might miss some, or just scroll over them.
As for simplicity: One could put forward that "I don't want to manage two or more groups, that defeats the purpose of the app to begin with, which is to 'simplify'". I guess Eventbox is about making burdensome things easier, not leaving them out altogether. Multiple twitter accounts in the sidebar seem quite logical and also easy to implement.
Anyway, it seems you are interested in the groups for cognitive reasons (as a sort of information lens), which I absolutely agree is an useful feature. I do hope it comes to us in the form of "smart folders", and things are looking good! (http://getsatisfaction.com/thecosmicm...)
(clarification end)
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Yes, smart folders would obviously be a great solution. We apparently have the same goal (which is to read certain people all the time, and only occasionally follow the vast majority of twitterers). Both groups and multiple accounts would do the trick, I just prefer a method that doesn't require me to manage yet another username/password combination.
I’m rubbing jelly all over myself!

Inappropriate?Smart folders are coming in the future.
-
Inappropriate?Simply having folders in the sidebar (not even smart folders) would be nice. One could put profile peeks and searches together into a single folder, and either open up the folder to see them individually, or collapse it and click on the folder to see everything listed inside. I would love to see folders implemented in this manner.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?I very much like EventBox, but (and I hate to be one of these people) I cannot use it until it has this feature. After using Twitterific and Twhirl for a very long time I moved to TweetDeck because the way I use Twitter I have a very difficult time separating out conversations. TweetDeck let's me do this with groups. Once EB get this feature I will be on-board!
