Ideas to make EventBox a must-have
Ok EventBox rocks that's a fact :)
I'm sure you have already thunk all of that but there is my ideas to make EventBox an absolutely must-have at least for me.
Roughly it's to deliver to us a powerful friendfeed software.
- Support more services : last.fm, del.icio.us (and stumbe uppon, twine etc.) wakoopa, google reader with full sync, netvibes, brightkite, vimeo, blip, ustream, qik, backtype, jaiku, seesmic, geo-bookmarking like nomao etc. etc.
- Add a maximum of interaction between services.
For exemple the ability to share a del.icio.us bookmark on facebook or a flickr photo on twitter by drag n' drop
And one thing I'm still looking for : put my google reader starred items to my delicious.
If you can do it you will be my 2008's hero :D

Inappropriate? Thanks for your feedback. More services will be coming as time passes, so it just a matter of question. So is interaction between services. We will get there, we just need some time.
-
Inappropriate?Milen,
why not set-up a voting site so people can vote for features and you implement them based on the amount of votes each feature gets? -
That's what SocialThing did and they didn't do much else in terms on implementation. :-\ -
Inappropriate?I'll take that idea on board and we will try and release a voting page when we have some spare time.

Inappropriate? What's difficult these days is that you have to go to so many individual sites in order to interact with their functionality.
Websites like http://profilactic.com ("lifestreams") are only snapshot views of activity -- what's missing is a single portal from which I can interact with ALL my social services; i.e., respond to mail messages, accept friend requests, etc from multiple sites (and there are a least a dozen or so which fall into just this category containing "friend requests": mySpace, Facebook, Bebo, deviantART, Flixster, Flickr, Digg, 43 Things, Friendster, Vox, Hi5, Upcoming, StumbleUpon, iMeem, Yelp, Last.fm, Multiply, BuzzNet, Picassa, Slide, Twitter, Yahoo, Xanga, YouTube, etc.).
Another good source for such websites is http://spokeo.com (its a great way to find friends' activities via their email address)

Inappropriate?I think interaction is very important for Eventbox. Right now it is multiple sites / services under one nice gui. I can have this in my browser with tabs too. But there the services can't interact, I can't filter duplicates, nor crosspost, nor synchronize. If this was possible inside Eventbox it would be a must have application. As of now I won't buy it after the trial period is over. And in addtion I won't have a second chance to test it at later stages because I had to buy it...

Inappropriate? In addition, I'd like to see Plurk & Kwippy included. Also, the ability to see my GTalk contacts' status updates. With GTalk releasing Video Chat via the GMail window, just about every one of my contacts from all previous networks are now hooking up with GTalk. More integration here would be superb!
Maybe one way of interacting with the multiple networks is to incorporate Ping.fm's ability to send to many, many networks. Why reinvent the wheel?
I’m hopeful!

Inappropriate? What would be awesome (and I know this is totally off subject... sorry) is if there was ONE service that allowed you to update your status, mini-blog, blog, etc... and EVERYONE had it. Then software like eventbox wouldn't have to support a million different services, and it would make life a lot simpler.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I'm all for the part about the sync with Google Reader. Right now it's the only thing I'm craving for (apart form the HUD, but that's coming), I just don't want my stuff to be out of sync, I want everything to live on the net and not on my computer.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? In my opinion, I think EventBox would be best served by trying to make those things that they have decided to focus on initially the best they can make them. I think there are a lot of OSX folks who have been waiting for a good native twitter app and EventBox -is- the best contender for that top spot right now.
At least that's why I bought EventBox after only having used it for about 15 minutes.
Given that, my thought would be to look at the list of suggested social networks from users and implement those that seem most likely to survive 2009 and beyond.
Personally, last.fm and delicious would probably be most useful to this one, selfish guy, just for the record, but I'd rather see the twitter client developed further.
Thanks for listening and you're doing a bang up job on this stuff. -
We have actually been concentrating on improving EventBox for the last 2-3 weeks and mainly focusing on existing features. For example, in the next public release you will be able to follow / unfollow people (also block / unblock). We've implemented username auto-completion and many many other things.
