The ability to use Google Reader in place of adding RSS feeds, this way when they are marked red in EventBox, they are also marked read on the Google Reader website.

I would also like to see my Google Reader unread items in EventBox, like Reader Notifier does it for me now:

Reader Notifier is opensource and works very well. But I would prefer to keep it all in one "box".

Inappropriate? It's on the cards. We've had a lot of requests for it and we will certainly be implementing it in the near future (if the google api is good enough). Thanks!
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I totally would love this feature too.
Google Reader is nice but a desktop app that can do it all would take the cake, especially if it provided syncing :)
I’m looking forward to GR syncing

Inappropriate?I don't really get this. I'd rather have Eventbox specialize on social networking sites and integration with them. There are already a lot of great specialized news readers that are likely to do a better job then eventbox in this area.
What I maybe wouldn't mind seeing it integrating with google reader to get my starred articles and shared articles so that I could share them more easily on social sites if I choose. I'd rather do my news reading on a different app though.
I’m undecided

It's EventBox not SocialBox, I think of it more as an application for Web 2.0 not social networking. Now Web 2.0 is mostly social networking yes, but if you have Digg and Reddit, Google Reader is up there with the amount of usage as well. -
Inappropriate?I don't disagree... but why offer RSS Feed input at all? right?
-
Inappropriate?Google Reader is, in a certain sense, just another social network.
GR supports the inclusion of your friends shared items, which in turn is the basis for a social knowledge network and as such, has every right to be inside Eventbox.
"being in the know" is as much a part of my social life as everything else Eventbox offers, because often times, I am reading my friends blogs via RSS (Google Reader in my case) and respond via Twitter or Facebook.

RSS sync is useful for when you aren't at your computer but want to check your feeds. Checking your feeds on iPhone for example. -
I don't think you grasp the point of what Google Reader is exactly, or RSS. Go try it out and the iPhone version and then maybe you'll understand it.
Picture this: You have every item of and RSS readily available (even if you don't have your reader open) and can view it from anywhere (Desktop, iPhone, Wii, etc) and the ones you have read you don't have to read again: It remembers what you've read so you don't end up rereading something. If there is something you like and say your busy or on your mobile phone and don't wanna read the whole thing right now you can star it and read it later (most iPhone apps will download the website the feed links to if you star it).
It's an incredibly deep product and is very helpful for keeping up on the tech news for me.
Is it social? Yes. I can make an item as shared to share with my Google Reader "Buddies" and it will post it to a little blog for others to see. I can also see what my friends are reading through out the day also. Think of it as a private Digg without the digging, you can still leave comments too. -
ZicklePop: a word of advice. Don't start off trying to make a point by saying "you don't get it." That won't get you very far.
Actually, I do get the point of what Google Reader is, and I'm a very heavy user of RSS. It sounds like your saying that you like Google Reader because it's web based and therefore available everywhere. This is certainly a good thing, but at the core it is a reader and integrating a reader into another reader is perhaps confusing and definitely a conflict of interest for EventBox developers who probably want you to use EventBox for RSS.
That said, it's probably not out of the question but would require read/unread status to be passed back and forth between Google Reader and Eventbox, and I'm unsure about the technical challenges behind that. -
Sorry dude.
They are the ones who wanted to add NetNewsWire when I found out about them. The Google Reader API seems pretty easy and can do many things with syncing. (See Bylines for iPhone, a 3rd Party Google Reader app)
I can see EventBox after version 1 allowing 3rd parties to write plug-ins for them to support anything and everything. Again, I think they just want to bring all the information from sites we all keep a tab open for into one place. -
Perhaps I spoke too soon. From The Cosmic Machine's website:
"In particular, we are working on RSS syncing and support for del.icio.us, Last.fm and Orkut. Be prepared to be surprised."
RSS syncing looks to be on the plate after all! -

Inappropriate? If it could be well integrated, OK, but I like the focus on social media. The only RSS feeds I subscribe to in EventBox are social media related: my OtherInBox RSS feed, my Facebook "friend's posted items" feed, and comments feeds for my blogs. I would hate to see EventBox turn into just another RSS reader.
I'm not saying I'm against the idea, if the developer feels that adding this feature wouldn't hurt development on the current core features of EventBox, I just worry that it would...
I’m anxious
