Considering that you're still adding features (and what's coming up sounds excellent, I might add), I think users will get a sense of "following" EventBox if they're given the chance to stick with it (for free) while it's growing up.
Besides, considering that it's still a beta, I don't think 14 days is enough to really get into using EB and get hooked on it's potential awesomeness.
40 days would be better; 60 days would be immense. You could also consider an trial that expires on a particular date (say 60-90 days in the future).
So—at least while it's still in beta—I really think that the trial period should be way longer. Once you launch, 14 days is acceptable :)
Just my 2¢...

It's beta. It should be free. Still have a time limit. 14 or 30 days so people can't keep using it after it go live and it forces them to keep up with the most recent version for testing.

I agree with Ben actually.. :) would like to follow up on the features. Once it's some sort of 'decent' 14 days its ok.

I agree that 14 days is quite low - especially for beta software. Most companies offer their beta software for free, but attach an expiration of several months. I think 30 days would be acceptable.

I don't have anything against time limited betas, since usually they reset the trial period on significant changes. So if you try EventBox and don't like it, I figure chances are good you can just come back in a month or two, see if any great new features have made it more appealing, and start a new trial.
At least that's what I've seen with other mac software. -

During beta for sure the time limit should renew every release for sure, and IMO all apps should reset the trial for evey significant new release. How else to test new features?
EB did not reset the time limit for the last round of feature adds, and I could not test it. -

I agree 14 days is a bit short and would like to see it expanded.
The way it worked with "Versions" (a Subversion client for OS X):
While in beta, you were forced to update to the newest beta version each time a new version came out. If you choose not to, the app wouldn't launch. If you did update, you could go on using the app for free during the beta period. Once the app went stable, you had 14 days to use the stable version after which you were presented with the opportunity to buy the app.
I personally believe that's the way beta software should be. I'm also pretty sure your user base will rapidly increase and in the end, more people will buy Eventbox since they're so used to it by that time.
(To be honest: I'm also just a bit frustrated because I forgot to use Eventbox for the first 12 days of my beta "trial" ;-))-
I agree totally.

On their website, they state: If your trial has expired and you would like to extend it, please contact us at cm-support@thecosmicmachine.com and we will be happy to provide you with an extension.
