Can I make MD show the ENTIRE category?

New to MD as of tonight! Love it so far -- finally got fed up with Fortora Fresh and decided to switch. Formerly a Quicken Windows user but recently switched to Mac. I really like Quicken's category set-up (i.e. Insurance:Life/David). MD seems to require me to make "David" a tag (extra, unnecessary step) AND when I use category "Insurance:Life" only "Life" shows up in the transaction. Is there a way to get the format I like?
