Does Moneydance support "dual categorization" of transactions?
I've switched from Windows to Linux, am looking for a replacement for Quicken (running it under CrossOver office, which works but is dreadfully slow). My key need is "dual categorization" of transactions - I need a mechanism classify transactions independently of their categories, i.e., assign alternate categories separate / independent from their main categories (Quicken does so via categories and "classes," MS Money via "dual categorization."
Does Moneydance provide a mechanism for dual independent categorization / classification of transactions (and permit use of both in reporting)?

Inappropriate?MD uses transaction tags, similar to tags in Mozilla Firefox and several recent versions of common programs.
You will find these under Tools / Edit Transaction Tags.
For reporting tagged transactions go to the Transactions report, click "all accounts", "Subtotal" by year, and "Filter by Tag", then select tag. You will get a reasonable report for all transactions under a single tag.

Inappropriate?Thank you, John. I'd like to see MD add some capabilities in this area (e.g., use the tag values as column filters in an income vs expense report), but I can see how I could use the technique you suggest to get the figures for transcription into a report in my desired form.
