MyMoney vs MoneyDance
Saw some mentions of MoneyDance so just tried it out. My impression after short use.
Reporting and being able to filter the register view very nice compared to MD and I wish MD had the same. I also really liked the way MM's download setup box shows you the OFX info and (somewhat - you can't save if the test connection fails) allows you to change it at any time.
Did not like the UI compared to MD, or even Quicken. MD's is much cleaner, simpler and shows more in the same screen width - very important day to day. Did not like the MM downloaded transaction matching UI as much or the reconcile box. Neither as good or functional as MD's. MM also does not have any account grouping showing subtotals for and overview like MD's home page.
MM is very much slower in window display and editing. I had at least 4 to 5 bug report boxes pop up with only a month's transactions in three accounts. And the Account Manager window stopped showing the accounts after I downloaded some transactions into the accounts i.e. program seems to need some maturity.
An unrelated thing I found out during my test is that the ofxhome.org directory listing for Capital One Bank has the wronig ORG name. It is "Hibernia". The directory listing for Hibernia is also has the wrong server URL. If you use the ORG and ID from the HIbernia listing with the URL from the Capital One listing, Capital One will do OFX direct connections. I ing guess Capital One has not done a correction since buying Hibernia a few years ago. Maybe this will help some of the guys having trouble setting up Capital One accounts.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the comparison. I wanted to try out MyMoney but they don't have an installer for 64 bit linux. That's another plus for Moneydance, simple installation.
