Payoff! Extension Update release 2.0
Payoff! Extension Update release 2.0 is not fully compatible with older versions of Moneydance. Specifically, I use release 587 to enter reminders because it makes the tax date the same as the entry date instead of the date of the very first reminder. In that release, the summary that appears on the home page is there, but if I click on the Payoff title, instead of opening the extension, it gives a javalangLoClassDefFoundError:org/jfree/chart/ChartPanel error. When such compatibility issues exist, it would be nice to know before downloading the extension.

Inappropriate?Hi David,
Did you have any luck finding out what was wrong. I'm seeing a similar problem with a different extension. The problem only seems to be happening on Windows. Can you confirm which operating system you are running?
Also, can you let me know where your Moneydance installation directory is?
e.g. C:\Program Files\....
Are you still running build 587 of Moneydance? Do you have the same problem on the latest version?
Cheers,
Kevin -
Inappropriate?Hi stemkev,
I am running XP service pack 3 on the computer that I use to go back to build 587 on from time to time. I still get the same error in build 587.
The copy of build 587 I use is stored in "C:\Program Files\Moneydance2007\MD587 Backup"
I think that it uses the same config.dict file as build 628, which has no problem opening the Payoff extension.
Since I usually use build 628, this is merely a minor inconvenience for me.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info. Where did you get build 628 from? I thought build 617 was the latest release.

Hi Kevin,
Build 628 is a "Preview Version" which can be obtained by openimg the Moneydance Updater extension and changing the setting to to preview version.
Alternatively, you can go to http://moneydance.com/preview/changes... and follow the prompts.
As you know, Moneydance is a work in progress. Build 628 has the fixes listed on that webpage, but it still has other problems that have not been fixed yet.
At least we get to name our own poison.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the pointer to the preview release. I didn't even know that page existed!
I don't suppose you ever tried to run the Payoff extension on build 617 did you?
I'll see if the Windows user who reported the problem is willing to try out the preview release. -
I just happened to have a copy of build 617 on my hard drive. Alas, The same thing happens as with build 587.

Inappropriate?Ok, thanks very much for taking the time to confirm the problem.
Cheers,
Kevin
